Good trip

I should have posted as soon as we came back.  Fighting with my mom and my husband is snappish.  It was a good trip and I so need to hold on to that.   A couple incidents with my oldest griping about my middle son, but otherwise it went well.  Middle son who always falls totally apart during trips did not.  Had two where he started to and then pulled himself back together and went on to have a good time.  One fall apart from youngest's girlfriend over bees and she had to go hide in the car, but we were almost done fishing and the car right up the hill so just gave her keys and left her out of the family photo.

So focus on good moments.  Drove two cars and people had room to spread out and were happy.  Set up of camp went well with a nice giggle when oldest son tried to carry his wife around to unzip the canopy holder which you are supposed to unzip before the camper is open.

A chilly night but not too bad and beautiful weather the first day.   Off to Virginia City.  Ride not too good, but got there and the train ride was nice and cool and breezy with a nice interesting guide.  Split up and wandered the city.  Middle son and wife wanted to stay with us, but others left to go on their own which worked.  Went by an old church and school, bought some fudge and browsed souviner shops.  Passed by family wandering too and waved or said hi.  Back to the campground for dinner and then to a magic show.  Oh it was fun.  We laughed and laughed.  I got up on stage for a trick.  Did not want to go and ended up with a balloon in my hand.  I HATE balloons.  My family about died.  The magician put it on my head and a light bulb lit up.  Then did another trick picking matching cards.  What a fun night.

The next day off to kayak.  That didn't do so well. People not able to paddle and middle son falling apart due to sun screen in his eyes he coudln't get washed out.  Pretty day, nice guide though who took us back an hour early due to above problems and no real sore muscles the next day and sun screen washed out and all good once we got off the water.  Girlfriend got a bad sun burn on one leg, but didn't do a lot of walking so she was ok.

A bit of fuss over lunch, then back to the camper for beach time.  No one wanted to go.  I left it alone and people played video games for 4 hours.  They all were relaxed and happy afterwards though and said it was just what they needed, some down time.  Off to an escape room where we made it out in good time and no real fighting which was great as I had worried about it.  Beautiful weather again this day.

Thrid day a bit warm, but not bad and gorgeous again.  There was snow two days before we went and then record heat two days after we left.  Could not have had it better timed.  Headed off to fish in the morning which hubby loved.  Trout pond, major cheating, but caughter 8 fish.  Oldest wife had a really good time too.

A quick lunch and rearrange of planned hike to a fancy house/castle.  I wanted to go, but too hot and too far.  Felt it would cause tantrums.  So off to an air conditioned studio to dress up as gangsters and take funny photos.  It was fun.  Lots of laughing again.  Nice pictures too.  Then onto our sunset dinner cruise.  Dressed up and nice dinner.   Waite staff so sweet and took care of all special requests.  Lovely sunset, a tiny bit chilly, but not bad.  Everyone enjoyed it very much.  No sea sickness or problems.  Again lots of time for people to wander on their own and reconnect for moments.

Just a good trip.  Need to remember to plan down time and those occasions where people can do their own thing, not always forced together.  Had such a good balance this time.  Keep it flexible on activities that aren't going to go well, no marathon activities where people get too tired.  And always two cars....
