Good Times & "Drama!!!"
This weekend, I had a lot of good times. Friday night we all went to see "The Great Gatsby" at my son's request, since he read it in school. (Very good, by the way.) Saturday, DH & I had an impromptu meeting with an old friend of mine who happened to be in town due to her musician boyfriend's gig. And on Sunday, DS was recognized (along with other high school seniors in his youth group) at the group's church service. Later on, he went to the youth pool party (DD didn't want to go--more on that later) & we went to a free live concert on our town green, with beautiful weather all day.
So where's the drama? Well, we had to leave for church early, since this church's service starts early. I was nagging for DS to come downstairs & after the last nag, he yelled back (loudly), "I'M COMING!!" No swearing, no threats, nothing else & directed to no one else. Just par for the course & it was quickly out of my mind.
Well, we're sitting in church & I see DD getting upset & starting to cry. I thought it was because we were late (because she hates being late); DH thought she may have been moved by the service. She & I went to the ladies room after & I found out it was because DS yelled! I mean, he didn't even yell at her, it didn't last as long as her being upset, and it really was no big deal. But she let it upset her so much that she sat in the car & pouted while the rest of us enjoyed the church picnic.
Look, I don't like when people yell either; but all my life someone is yelling at someone else: bosses at employees, co-workers at eachother, friends, enemies, teachers, students, parents, kids, the list goes on. The thing is that you just can't let it ruin your life.
Honestly, I think she's spending so much time on the freaking computer that she's losing the ability to deal with real life. Or maybe she's just being hormonal. Who knows. My only real concern is that she won't go blowing this all out of proportion & dragging other people into it. She probably won't because she was OK by bedtime. But I've already got PTSD from her last incident!
So that's the drama...don't save it for this mamma!
