Good stuff

Oh I hope this feeling can continue.  My oldest son actually sent me a msg just to chat about his new apartment.  He replied back to every comment I made.  A real conversation and he started it.  Made me feel really good.
Then had problems with my youngest sneaking computer time in the middle of the night and erasing conversations with a friend we have had trouble with.  He was forbidden a year ago to erase anything from this person and I told him I would check in now and then on what they were talking about.
Sat him down with dread in my heart that he was going to not speak to me for days.  But he was calm, reasonable and agreed his actions looked bad.  He agreed to go to bed on time and volunteered to bring his Kindle down out of his room at night to show he was not online.
We had a good conversation I felt.  Ended with no real punishment, but just that I would be watching and if I saw him not obeying I would cut off his internet.  He was just so good natured through the whole thing except once where he complained I was "pissy".  I explained why and he agreed I had cause.  We talked about making bad decisions and how some I was going to let him make as I had his brothers.  We talked about things I had done with them and how I had let them go their own way as well.  I talked about mistakes I had made as a teen too.
He never did tell me what he deleted in the conversation saying only he would like his conversation private.  I told him I would not read them all, but I was going to check in.  He told me he wanted his room private too.  I told him I would not search it, but would randomly vacuum and pick up trash as him and both his brothers are just natural pigs and I did it to them too.  He did not seem upset about any of it.
I love this child so much and it was so wonderful to see him be "normal" again instead of this sullen angry thing I have been dealing with for the last 6 months.  I hope and pray that this is the beginning of a new level of maturity in him and we can get along again.
