Good Stuff
I have to do a little bragging--because these opportunities don't come often! Yesterday, the old lady across the street asked my son if he'd come over & do some clean-up shoveling on her walkways, so he did! DH & I were pretty proud of him, though my son "didn't think it was a big deal." I think that being kind is always a big deal!
Well, now that I've laid out my main priorities over the next few days, it is so much easier to be focused & not overwhelmed. (I even had time for a little genealogy fun yesterday!) And it helps that I give myself a break & don't expect unreasonable amounts of output from myself; after all, I've been sick!
And now that my brain is getting back to normal functioning, I had reviewed the state's guide to Special Education Services, just in case I've been missing anything important regarding my son & his program. Turns out it was good that I did, because I am missing something: $1300! Apparently, if you don't agree with the school's evaluation & get an outside evaluation done that is acceptable to the school, you can be reimbursed for that! Well, that's certainly my case. School had said that their testing showed he didn't qualify for anything; and when I got him tested later, he suddenly became qualified! My insurance covered most of that cost; I'm only asking for the part that the insurance did not cover. So I've begun to draft a letter that I'll be sending to the school.
Saturday is my daughter's birthday, so we'll be celebrating with our annual mall trip. Probably a good time to have a heart-to-heart with her. DS will be at a youth retreat all weekend & DD will not be working, so she'll have the family all to herself!
