Good news, i'm enjoying myself...i think

4 out of the last 5 weekends I have gone out of town to be outdoors, mostly hiking & snowmobile.  this past weekend I entertained myself by hiking in the backcountry of the Colorado mountains.  Sat I hiked with only SOREL'S & blue jeans, not so smart since I kept falling into hip waist snow and got soaked thru.
I was inspired to get better equipment to explore the backcountry when I woman passed me up on the trail with a couple of dogs while cross-country skiing.  Sat night I did research on what to buy to make things easier when I’m hiking.
Sun morning I drove around the area (large skiing area W. of Denver) and purchased snow shoes, poles, ski jacket (didn't need it, but was my fav color) & ski pants. At this point i was very happy.
Sun afternoon I started hiking with my new equipment (not the clothes, thinking it was too warm) and made it 2/3 of the way up a 12K mountain! When I first started the hike; it was snowing a little, but saw a storm nearby.  The storm did come in and spent over 4 hrs in the storm.  I ran out of daylight before I got back to my car at the end of the day, my jeans were soaked thru (again), and when I stopped moving around for over 15 minutes trying to change clothes; I realized it was very cold.
Over all I was outdoors, but felt like I was just going thru the motions...looks like my long term depression has "re-wired" my brain.  I will continue to go outdoors to re re-wire my brain to be "normal" and find enjoyment in what I do.
this weekend I will make it up the mountain.
