Good news??
DH and I got a call today about our foster/respite baby. He is back with his full time foster mother now. He is due to go back with his birthmom December 10th for a trial placement. If that doesn't work out (which DFS has MAJOR concerns about him going back with her) DH and I get first dibs on him! We have mixed feelings but are over all excited! I hate to be hopeful that things won't work out with his natural family but part of me is. Taking on a special needs baby would be a lot considering DH's health problems. But I know if it's God's plan He will see us through! Now we are just patiently waiting to see if this trial placement works out. If is does then I know there is another baby out there for us and if it doesn't he could be back in our homes by April at the latest!

I am with you and saying prayers for you that everything works out for the best, whatever that is. I know this is such a difficult position to be in. As you know, we were foster parents for 2 1/2 years to my son before the adoption was final. If he is special needs, and his birth mother cannot handle it, then the best thing would be for him to be adopted. I am sure that if you and DH have a plan, everything will work out fine. And getting support from your family doesn\'t hurt (ie: babysitting so you guys can go out once in a while, or have a romantic getaway weekend.) You may even need counseling.
Having a special needs child can wreak havoc on a marriage. So you guys will have to remember to work on your own relationship as well. It is SO easy for me, the mother, to put my son first and have nothing left for my husband sometimes!
Anyway, keep me posted. Keep your heart open! God will fill it!
Thank you so much for your support! We were discussing this with our preacher last night (who has adopted 5 children through the foster care system) He mentioned a lot of your points to us and he also said that if this child\'s mother can\'t care for him and we choose not to adopt him then chances are he will probably end up permanently in the foster care system and eventually in a hospital or group home type setting. Not many other people in the world CHOOSE to adopt a child like this. He also said that we shouldn\'t be guilted into taking the child but to just be open. If it works out that he needs a home God will give us the strength and anything else we need to care for the child. DH\'s parents will be a big help if we do adopt because they are familiar with such health issues. Now we just wait and see what happens!
Best of luck as you go through this amazing time! I pray you find the guidance & support you need for what ever lies ahead!
Biggest Hugs & Bestest Blessings!!!
