Good little Support Group Member
I have returned to Weight Watchers!!!!! Too much self soothing with comfort food. lol
Anyway, as with support groups, each week a theme. With weight watchers sometimes they appear silly or hard to apply to a diet. (oops not a diet, a lifestyle). this week's was budgeting of time. to allow for proper meal planning(?) or fitting in walking/exercise(?) i wasn't sure. they were trying to tie it all into a pleasing concept called "me time". convincing us that "me time is not selfish". I have no problem with the concept of me time as time to follow my own heart and participate in activities that are self full filling, and allowing me to forgo the responsibility for taking care of an addict. As this was a hard lesson i learned as the wife of an addict. (i actually see it as one of the silver linings of this dark cloud, a coming into the fullness of my own potential). BUT I DO NOT CONSIDER TAKING A WALK "ME TIME" Mrs. Group leader, it goes under the heading of " torture!!!!! lol
But, as a good little support group member i do my homework! so i have been contemplating time, but more in relation to the craziness of addiction- SOMEONE ELSE'S addiction. How when out shopping, at a class, after work hours meeting walk on the beach, anything really....after a bit of time there is in the back of my head that nagging anxiety that i need to get home to check on my addict. although this anxiety has slowly diminished what a waste of my time it has been.
Now that i have gotten myself in a better emotional place, taken back my power, and moved on to finding a happier life, it is time to work on serenity. I can see that i achieved these milestones frantically, and that is okay because i was driven by anger and frustration. it is time to leave these emotions behind and actually LIVE in serenity and peacefulness. what is important? certainly not rushing through the grocery store so dinner is not 15 minutes late. certainly not that my husband will be anxious if i stay an extra hour at a friends house or gab with co-workers in the parking lot after work. also not important is if the coffee table in the never used living room gets a little dusty.
My time is precious, what things do i miss when i am rushing and worrying for no reason? << I have a friend who recently was rushing from work to visit her demanding cranky mother to please her demanding cranky sister, when she drifted to the other lane around a curve and hit a utility truck head on!!!!!!it is a miracle she is alive and her injuries relatively minor, but what difference would it have made if she got there 15 minutes later?>>
What state of mind am i in when i am not in the moment? when my mind is home, with an addict, trying to control him by mental telepathy. this is not serene it is chaos.
this is my next big goal.......all because i want to fit into last year's jeans!
