Good Help is Hard to Come By...LOL

This old saying is sooo true! I have a business in my home. It's a Christian Family Childcare. It runs 7 days a week and 24 hours a day at times. My home is uniquely situated on the back of a cul de sac so instead of one back yard I actually have two large back yards and a small front yard. Fortunately I am located directly across the street from an elementary school that has two large playgrounds.
I went on vacation a few weeks ago and a freak windstorm uprooted a wonderful tree in the backyard that serves as the children's playground. I thank God and His angels that the children had just came in the house about three minutes before this freak wind gust came along. Praise God! He knew and He protected the kids and also my house. That tree was huge and provided great shade in my yard, but it leaned toward my house and the covered patio. Somehow when it blew over it went the opposite way and crashed toward the swingset and slides covering the entire playground but not touching the patio cover, house or fencing!! Amazing!!  What a blessing that the kids had just came in. However I was out of the country when it happened. We had to close down that playground and I truly miss that tree.
Now to the reason for my title. The playground needed to have the tree removed and there was another tree by the swingset that was in bad shape so it had to be removed also. In addition the sprinklers needed work and a large section of the grass as a result over the winter needed to be replanted. In other words a lot of labor intensive work needs to be done to get the yard in good shape and ready to pass any unannounced state inspection. This means I had to use my other yard that is not designed for the kids and needed to be safety proofed for them to use.
I have two adult sons. The one I depend on for maintenance help the most, because he is reliable is now in jail. The other son wants to save the day but he is unreliable, confused, overwhelmed with his own struggles with visitation and drug testing ( which he is coming up negative every time so far , thank God), but he's like someone with maybe PTSD or something. He drives me crazy!! We have a hard time getting along to say the least. On the other hand he's all I got.
He has a friend who is an out of work contractor who agreed to help for $100.00 a day. Well the first day went okay but yesterday after a million excuses, most of which were half truths or untruths, stalls, promises were on the way, which is twenty minutes at most they finally arrive at 2:15 p.m. Now they want to begin work and work into the night with terrible makeshift lighting.
I know I should be grateful for the help at all, but I'm trying to run a business here! I'm trying to stay strong, while my other son is in jail, and keep a happy face on for kids and their parents in a 24/7 childcare, so between the grief and the disasters, and the critisism I get from my grandkids mother's about my "loser" sons it really is getting to me.
Anyway I hope today goes better! They are working hard when they do and I made it clear to the other guy yesterday that if he wants $100.00 I expect him to be here by 8:00 a.m. We are replacing the two lost trees with two new ones in each yard. Two dwarf nectarines in my adult yard and on the playground a peach tree and a plum tree. When it's done it will be really nice. I'm just frustrated because of the personal stress and heartache I'm experiencing and a frustration with todays culture regarding work ethics I guess.
Okay enough whining for one day! I must stay positive and hopeful and grateful...one day at a time. Cindy
