Good Days 4/18/13

     I just returned from a visit with my sister.  Her feeding tube was removed on the 16th since she is now able to eat enough to maintain her weight.  Her second round of radiation (after the surgery) was over 2 weeks ago.  Although she has some coughing when she eats or bends over, she is walking 3 miles each day and is working in her garden.  The marinol helps with the coughing and periodic bouts of nausea.  We were able to go out to eat during our visit, which is a real positive step toward her regaining a normal life again.  I told her that soon she will be able to go back to her garden club and book club luncheon meetings.  We both know that we are in the middle of a huge battle, but we cherish the peaceful, good times that we can spend together.  My sister will have a CAT scan in a few weeks to see if she needs to take more chemo treatments.  She is hoping for a break from this disease and it's treatments.  We both had to wipe a tear away as we hugged goodbye.
