Good and not so good
First the good. We are in Ottawa with Cevyn and the twins. It was spring break last week so we did a road trip to Montreal - it is a couple of hours away! We spent 2 nights there and managed to visit the Biodome, Insectarium, Planetarium and the Barbie museum! We also did Old Montreal. Sierra liked the planetarium best, Bella liked the Biodome and Barbie museum and I think Cevyn liked the Barbies best as well! She pointed out the different models! I liked the Portuguese restaurant in Old Montreal. Our waiter had been there for years and regaled us with stories about politicians he had served over the years; 2 of which were from Alberta. I was not fond of either of them but I loved the story about Peter Lougheed. The waiter whispered "I can tell you this because he is dead. He often came to visit a lady friend". Mr. Lougheed seemed like a very straitlaced person so it was a bit of a giggle for us! The other one, Ralph Klein messed up our health care system - it caused a geat upheaval in my life at the time so I really disliked him. Anyway, suffice it to say, we had entertainment along with our fantastic tapas dinner!
Now for the not so good. Cevyn has had a partner for over a year. He came with baggage - smart guy but had a hellish childhood. Cevyn tends to gravitate towards guys who are needy and Jon was no exception. He had some counseling and seemed to be doing well. He does have a problem as he is a macho kind of guy and Cevyn, like her mom and Granny, is an independent sort. Jon also seems to recognize other people's faults but not his own. He also talks and talks and talks but doesn't listen. He shared stuff with me that I didn't need or want to hear. He got upset with Cevyn on St. Patricks Day because she and I went to the pub and she drank way too much. Jon was invited but was in a bit of a snit so stayed home. We got back sometime after 11 and Cevyn said she was going to visit a friend a couple of doors down. She fell asleep (passed out?). Jon went over at 3 am and got in to a verbal altercation with the husband. He also phoned Cevyn's dad at 3am! Cevyn was woken and texted to tell me that she was there and fine. The next day, Jon texted and texted and texted to Harvey and Cevyn - crap about how childish and inconsiderate Cevyn was. He started to tell me how immature my granddaughter was. I told him that they both were and I did not want to talk about their relationship. Yadda yadda. Cevyn actually went to work on Sat and Sunday. Jon is now out and feeling sorry and contrite and in great need of a good counselor. He has serious issues! As Cevyn says, I know I have issues and am getting help. He has serious issues but thinks he is doing just great! The sad part is, he is good with the girls and when he doesn't escalate, is a really nice guy. Luckily, the twins have a great dad. As Cevyn says Brendan is a great dad but was not a great partner. I will be very annoyed if she lets him back in to the house!
I had great plans to visit friends in the Toronto area but am now just content to go for a walk every day and be an introvert. I have to make a decision soon as we go home on the 30th! As Joe said, I am going to get home and say "I shoulda'". He is probably right!
Cevyn and I are off to get mani pedis later today. It is always fun to do together. She could do mine but that is work for her. She is a very good aesthetician! Actually the only time I get my nails done is when I am in Ottawa! It is a day out for us.
We saw a cardinal the other day. It was noisy and told us a bit of a story. Lisa came to say hi! I miss her so much.

Ah, the good and the bad of life....isn't that how it always goes? OH that it could ALL be good!!!!
Sounds like lots of fun with the girls and I do hope you will take a little time to see your friends, as I agree with Joe, you'd probably get home and regret not doing so. I'm sorry for all the drama with Jon, and I truly hope he will seek and receive the help he needs.
Love always to you, Lisa, Cevyn and the girls....and Joe too!
My goodness, sounds like quite a trip! It is so hard being yanked in between relationships and my heart goes out to you. I hope it all resolves peacefully and amicably very soon. I am not sure I would be likely to visit friends with so much on my mind. I need time to process and am not one to air the laundry of others with my friends. And yes, when I got home I probably would wish that I had gone to see the friends while I was there. Oh life, always changing, sometimes troubled, sometimes wonderful. Sigh.
Enjoy your mani pedis! I envy that as I have never had one. It sounds like good bonding time. Whatever you decide, I hope you are at peace with your decision. Love to all…
