Gone Home To God Poem

I found this poem at continulife.com on James Cole's memorial site. I got permission from his daughter Joyce to share it. I hope it helps you as it does me. God looked around his Garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, he knew you were in pain. And knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw your path was difficult, he closed you tired eyes, He whispered to you "Peace be Thine" and gave you wings to fly. When we saw you sleeping so calm and free of pain, We would not wish you back to earth to suffer once again. You've left us precious memories, your love will be our guide, You live on through your children, you're always by our side. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. For part of us went with you on the day God called you home Anything I share like this I share because I hope it will comfort as I was comforted... If I err in my thinking you know and I know that in light of the pain we are dealing with... the awkward attempts of others to comfort us is as nothing.

I love this poem, it so much describes how my mothers last 4 years of her life was. She suffered tremendously with all of health problems. The last 4 weeks of her life was the best of her life. She had really looked forward to Thanksgiving & was hoping that all would be good. God answered her prayers. She died Dec. 1,2006. This poem explains my greatfullness of all that God had done for her.
