Gone fishin\'
Dear friend, Just to let you know that I will be away from DS for a few days as me and the kids head up north for our annual fall fishing trip. Although I won't have a computer to leep up with all of you, please know that you will remain in my prayers. The three of us will get up early tomorrow (Friday) morning for the 3 hour drive to my dad's cottage. Normally our fall trip coincides with the start of the high school football season. However, this year we're going up a week earlier because my son starts school next week. These weekends with my kids are sure "memory makers". Last year, we didn't get up norther until mid-October because my dad had been ill. By mid-October, the weather can be pretty cold. I memory I will have the rest of my life will be fishing at night with my son, with a full moon shining on the lake, and a near freezing wind blowing in our faces (we had our winter coats on...it was that cold). I wrapped my arms around my son to keep him warm while he "manned" the fishing pole. Although we didn't catch anything but weeds, it was a memorable moment. This trip will be my daughter's first fall fishing trip. This past spring was her first trip up north ever (she's 3...soon to turn 4). Like my son, my daughter just loved fishing...although my son says the thing he is looking most to is seeing the water snake...which should be much bigger than when we saw him this past spring. Another memorable moment with my son occurred over teh past couple of days. My son, who is 5, participated in his first ever football camp (at his age, he wil be playing flag football rather than contact/tackle football). I played football in high school and it was one of the greatest times of my life. So it was a thrill for me to see my son out there running wind sprints, taking hand-offs, etc. As he gets older, he may decide that footbal lisn't for him, but at least I'm happy that he is giving it a try. So far, he says he likes it. Take care my friends. I hope you all have a blessed and joyous weekend.
