Going to visit the Alpacas
Saturday,Brenda and a couple of our friends and I went out to a small town called House,New Mexico to visit some of Brenda`s co-worker/friends that have Alpacas. They kind of look and act like Lamas. We had planned to go first thing in the morning so that we would show up at the Alpaca Ranch at about 2pm.But Brenda woke up with a migraine and another ear ache.I was ready to call off the whole thing because I know how hard it is to get rid of a migraine and figured that we could reschedule for next week end.Brenda is stuborn and she insisted that maybe she caught it in time and that she would be ok after lunch.I don`t know if we should have went because now she has had a relaps and the ear ache is worse(probably because she wouldn`t put ear drops and cotton in her ear). But getting back to the story of the visit. We got there at around 2:30pm and the wind was blowing but you could see the Alpacas out in the field and it wasn`t no time until they came up to the house and barn so we could get some really good pictures of them.At least I hope that I got some,You see yesterday was my first time using a regular 35mm camera and it uses regular film.I have shot some cameras before but nothing like this.I know that I could just have set the camera on automatic but I wanted to start learning how to use it the right way and besides Brenda has a Digatal camera and was getting some really cool shots. The one thing that I really liked about the trip is that they have these really big dogs that they use as guard dogs for the herd. They are a breed called Great Pyrenees and they were all solid white. Beuatiful dogs and to top it all off they were friendly and you could pet them and play with them.I am sure that if the owners hadn`t been there it would have been a different story but they were great. They sort of look like a Golden Retriever but bigger . Don`t get me wrong I did like the Alpacas too but the dog lover in me kicked in the minute I saw them. I miss my dog Lacy so much and it seems like it is going to take forever for Brenda`s brothers dogs to make up thier minds to breed so that we can have one of the pups.He has three Golden Retrievers(one female) but they have been waiting until she is 3 before they breed her.We are all hopping that when we go and visit them this September that we will be able to get our puppy. I hope that they do it soon or we will have to postpone our trip until later.I know that we had a good time and we sat and visited for a couple of hours and then went back outside and took more pictures .The wind had picked up and it started to get very cold so we headed back home stopping along the way for Shad to take some very late pictures with his camera, without flash and it was almost dark when he took them.I didn`t know that you could do that but he has some kind of filter or attachment that he can do it with and he got some really great shots of an old church that is abandoned and falling apart.Well guess I will go for now and see if Brenda is doing any better.I hope everyonje has had a great week end.
