Going to count the POINTS again
Last night I dragged my old POINTSfinder out of the kitchen drawer. Discovered I missed the thing like an old friend! Actually what I miss is going to Weight Watcher meetings (which I did in Philadelphia).
Once having been exposed to WW, I found myself indoctrinated with their message and their method. Got a laugh recently when I read someone's opinion on the Net. They considered WW to be a CULT! As in brainwashing, mind control, etc. Personally I found it to be a sensible organization.j
What's even better is that counting the POINTS can be done in conjunction with other dieting tools. I can continue to make a protein shake for breakfast or mid-afternoon. Any food or drink with the Nutrition Label attached can be figured out in POINTS.
Between Sept. of 08 and Aug. of 09, I lost 30 lbs. by counting the POINTS. This year I've tried just counting calories--but it isn't working as well. Therefore, I'm going to count POINTS again and see if I can get myself losing steadily again.
The difference between counting just calories and counting POINTS is that the POINT system regulates how much fat is consumed and encourages high fiber. It's kind of neat!
I'm also going to weigh myself only on the first day of each month. Been getting scale-obsessed and I don't want to be. Been getting crazy when I lose something and then there is a gain. Some of that is fluid retention, but it demoralizes me. If I just weigh once a month, I will get a more realistic view.
As for those "brainwashing cult leaders" at WW, I can still hear one of them yelling PORTION CONTROL! PORTION CONTROL! PORTION CONTROL! And "What you do to LOSE your weight you've got to keep doing to keep the weight OFF."
Anybody else doing WW at home?
