Going Places
Today we're making the road trip to upstate NY to tell James's parents that we're pregnant. Surely they must have guessed by now, but James points out that his family is really good at self-deception and ignoring obvious truths. The most exciting thing about this weekend, as far as I'm concerned, is that after we tell them, I can tell MY people that this much-talked-about pregnancy is twins. I have been categorically denying it up till now. (The only person I told was my grandmother because I thought she was dying. She wasn't. And then she blabbed to my aunts, my cousins, my mom... And then my LYING started. So maybe I've thrown them off the trail). The way we're going to tell James's parents is that he'll announce that we're pregnant. We'll then show them a doctored picture of one of the sonograms. I erased one of the babies from that picture. Then we'll bring out another picture (with the opposite baby erased) and say, "Here's another one." And then we'll bring out the original picture of them together and say, "And here are both babies together!" Of course, this is the plan. I have been known to get so excited at "plans" like this that I give it away ahead of time. Either way, it's going to be a fun announcement. I've been feeling a lot better, with the exception of a few days this week. I was so disheartened to have full days of flat-on-my-back nausea again, for days in a row. I finally realized that those days corresponded to a change from one kind of prenatal vitamin (what I've been taking without problem for 2.5 years) to another (when my normal kind ran out I started dipping into my box of samples). Whoa. I'm taking a few days off from vitamins now, for the sake of the road trip. Those were my mom's instructions. And moms know everything. Today I'm reveling in the good news that my newly preggo friend MrsStacy is carrying TWINS! Both she and I are twins ourselves (not to each other, though we do seem to have a lot of things in common) and now this. Really fun. To all my friends who are still out there on the battlefield, don't stop. Your day (your baby) is coming.
