God bless our home, and all who sail in her
Good morning Journal, the time is 7:47am,and I am awake and attempting to unravel my spine so that I can resemble something remotely human, rather than a marionette who has had it's strings cut. After a third night on the lounge floor, both my awesome wife, for there is no other description that fits her,and myself, can still see the funny side of our current predicament. As master of this ailing vessel of ours,I am here on the main deck,(where other place would a captain be?),while my trusty first mate and the rest of the crew are resting in their hammocks,or the mattress on the floor if you prefer to use landlubbers terms.I am an ex-army man,so naval speak is somewhat alien to me,but I am learning quickly;we now use terms such as,"Ahaar me hearty!,would ye like a tot of coffee?,"and,"shiver me timbers, let's have lunch,me ribs are like a whale's skeleton foundered on the rocks!". Also,I am seriously thinking of trading my walking cane in for a crutch, and training a budgerigar to sit on my shoulder,a parrot would be stretching our meager treasure chest just a tad,and we must live within our means at present. After dropping anchor yesterday,my wife and I ventured ashore for several hours, and spent a lovely afternoon shopping in town,we picked up several crates of ship's biscuits, and a plentiful supply of grog,(our version of gatorade),and then I took my sweetheart on a little retail therapy session. She is now the proud owner of several new tops,a pair of jeans, and a new recipe book for different breads of the world,(as we don't know how many different ports we might see before the floor is fixed, she thought she'd go a bit cosmopolitan). She was like a kid in a candy store,I haven't seen her smile like that for such a long time and it moved me greatly,in fact,I enjoyed just watching her choosing what she wanted for a change, not what she thought we needed for our home and denying herself the little things a woman needs to make her feel pretty. When we arrived home,I didn't want her to cook,so we ordered take out,a rare treat, but we decided the money was well spent to end such a wonderful day, when, just for once,we deserved a little happiness in our lives;we had Chinese, and it was absolutely delicious!. We also bought treats for our fur children, rubber balls and tug ropes,so the whole family shared in our joy,and just for that particular moment in time,we didn't worry about tomorrow. What will be will be,the Good Lord hasn't let us go hungry yet,and we have a roof over our heads;there's an old saying in this country,"we're short of nowt we've got,"it simply means,"what we have is enough for now,we won't starve,we have clothes on our backs,we have shelter;and we have us;and that,my friends, make my family millionaires.Peace be with us Journal as we navigate the seas ahead, one day, hopefully soon, but one day,we will drop anchor on a a secluded shore in a peaceful cove. This morning,I am upgrading my little guy,the little green fellow will flutter on the mast of the good ship peaceful;he looks somewhat seasick and green, not on my ship ye scurvy knave!!!!.

It warms my heart and thrills my soul to see your little \"green fellow\" today! Like I mentioned before, there as a time when you were engulfed with depression over even the smallest things. Now you\'re facing a huge shelter crisis, and you\'re laughing, shopping, and just enjoying life one day at a time! How far you\'ve come, my friend. It does my heart so good! I hope you and your wife have a wonderful Sunday!
