Goal update-week 3
All things considered, this week went very well. I took four lovely walks, thoroughly enjoying the fresh air and solitude. My walks are becoming very important to me. I listen to music while I walk, but I also let my mind wander where it may. Sometimes to happy places, sometimes to sad, and sometime to the mundane.
Major task accomplished: my tax returns. Put the finishing touches on them and sent them off. It has been so long since I'd done them (Mark had been handling them or we would go through them together) that I was quite nervous about it. But it is done. Whew!
My self-indulgence: opening a bottle of white whiskey I bought back in January and sending a quiet toast up to Mark on Monday, the first anniversary of his death. Mark introduced me to many fine wines, scotches, whiskys, chocolates, and other treats....things I would not have tried if he had not indulged me.
I am feeling pretty good, overall. Focusing on the good memories, but not burying the sad one. I still keep my gratitude journal, though some days it is difficult to find anything to be grateful for. I haven't missed a day yet!
Remember, the goal isn't to be HAPPY, just to be happier :)

Good for you Mary! Running and biking have helped greatly for me. Maybe a little white whiskey in my water bottle for the mid way point of the bike ride, would be good for the circulation. Glad you are making steady progress. Hope you feel better every day my friend.
