Gne More Hug!

Friday was one of those sad days.  We all have them, when something tugs at our hearts and won't let go.  I had the opportunity to go to a celebration of life for a former student.  In case you aren't up with the current lingo, that means funeral.  It was the funeral for a brilliant young man, probably one of the brightest I'd even worked with, age 27.  Reason for death?  Unknown.  Loss to humanity?  Untold.    No one ever tell you when you become a teacher that one of the saddest obligations is attending the funerals of former students.  This was my second.    I attended the funeral with my middle son, who was a classmate.  After we got home, I just hugged him.  And my daughter?  Well I don't think she has passed by me for the last three days that I haven't grabbed her in a hug.  My husband, well, I don't much let him out of the room without a hug.    Friends, let's look at our lives.  Yes, we hurt.  Yes, we have it hard.  This crazy mixed up life of RA can be the pits! We cry, we are in pain, our bodies are totally undependable.  We do not know what tommorow will bring, more pain?  More suffering?  More drug reactions?  But, and this is a big BUT we are still alive now, TODAY!  While are loved ones are with us, let's give them one more hug.  As I shook the hands of this young man's parents/grandparents, as I looked in their eyes, I know they would give anything, even their own lives for one more hug.     Today, look at all the people that love you and that you love, even look at your pets, and give one more hug!
