Glad 2009 is over

I am so glad 2009 is finally over and already its January 5th 2010. This past year was not only busy for me with my job but also with both my husband and I being in and out of the hospital. I had 2 hospital stays before February and Hubby had major back surgery the end of February. Several trips to the ER for flu like symptoms, chest pains and minor accidents. I think my Husband and I met our catastrophic deductible by August 1st.   I went to the Doctor back in November and found out I have what they call stenosis in my lower back along with some inflamation of the facets and some minor arthritis. The surgeon is recommending I have surgery someday but I'm such a risk of course they want to try everything else they can think of first which is OK with me. I bought a 2000 Toyota Four Runner that gets about 24 MPG so that helps. Especially since I now drive 50 miles one way to work everyday. 24 MPG is better than my full sized blazer that got 1 gas station to the trip. I changed Jobs in September and went from working in a nursing home 10 miles away to the ICU in the trauma center which is 50 miles away. Believe it or not working in the ICU is much easier work. Winter has been weird in the Northwest this year. We got hammered early with snow and below zero temps then it warmed up and we are getting rain. I like rain especially when I have to drive to work everyday. I'm sure more snow will be on the way especially since we usually get our record snowfalls around February. Hubby went back to work  1/2 days back in September and will continue to do so for awhile until he heals a little more. I had to give up my involvement in the Search and Rescue dog unit as I just didn't have the time or energy after working 80 hours in a 2 week pay period. Yes I know I swore I was going to cut back on my hours but like I said working in the ICU is much easier than a nursing home besides all the equipment works in the ICU. I had to work an 8 hour shift on Thanksgiving but all my kids and Grandchildren were home so when I got home from work all I had to do was sit down to eat. I think that was a first ahnd it was truly a treat. I had Christmas day off and I did most of the cooking and once again got to enjoy my Grandchildren. By the way the Youngest turned 1 on December 29th and is walking or should I say running everywhere. I volunteered to work both New Years Eve and New Years Day so the younger generation could do the partying. Surprisingly it was pretty quiet in ICU. 2010 is not starting off good for me, I have Jury duty on Wednesday lol how can that be a good sign? Hope you all had a great Christmas and a safe New Year. Your all in my thoughts and prayersHugs and God BlessFerr
