Getting Ready For Round 2
On Monday, I had my baseline ultrasound done, amazingly enough there were no cysts and we are able to proceed this month. This upcoming Tuesday will be another ultrasound to see how things are progressing. If this month progresses like last month, we will go in for the IUI on Thursday. As exciting as all of this is, I am very guarded and subdue about this round. I was crushed and so very disheartened after last months IUI failure, that I cannot and will not allow myself to get attached to the possibility that this IUI will work. I haven't told anyone but my very best friend that we got the green light for this month, after last month we decided we would not tell even our close family what was going on. Seems counterintuitive to not include family, but they have no idea what it is like to be going through what we are going through and we get comments like "Well, have fun trying again" and my favorite "Maybe it will just happen on its own." I know they meant well, but it was grieving person that their feelings of sadness and loss, yes, for even something that never was, was trivial and that this whole experience of infertility was just about sex and is really an easy fix of letting it 'just happen'. At work I just told them I couldn't get my doctors appointments on the same day and took half a day off for both the ultrasound and the IUI (I live and work over an hour away from the clinic). So, I am pretty sure the rumor mill is working overtime...I just wonder what terminal illness the gossips have given me :0).
