Getting on with it...

Well, I saw my counselor on Monday, yesterday I applied for 2 jobs online, and went to the grocery store, but have yet to go to the career center to search their database or ask for some advise. I thnk that I wouldn't mind having a 9:00 to 3:00 job, even doing cashiering work or something like that, but I fear that I'm going to have to work full time, if I can FIND A JOB! I've expanded my job search to include anything within 65 miles of my house - which does include Portland (I think), and still the opportunities are few and far between. 3 years! But, if I have to rely upon the state for their meager contribution to my welfare I might as well give it all up now. What they expect you to do for them to "earn" your pittance is absurd. I don't understand why this country treats its poor so badly, but they do. There is a vase 3rd world in this country that is ignored, insulted, and berated. Unfortunately, I am one of them. I've never been rich - or for that matter comfortable - but I've never been this bad off that I requested assistance because of it. Maine's motto is "The way life is supposed to be", but they discourage industry, tax the crap out of people and businesses, and do so little to help (when help is requested) and expect so much for it. My goal here is to have a life. Well, I really wonder if I can make a life for myself and my girl here. I really, really need to get a job!
