Getting more anwers.
So in my infertility journey I came to the conclusion that we have to be our own advocates and take matters in our own hands. At least that's true for me. My RE downplays all my concerns and I am not getting all my answers from him. He is a good doctor and all, and I am grateful to him for certain things. Like he was the first person to find out my thyroid and prolactin issues AND do something about it. He is not trying to put me on a bunch of meds and wants me to try a natural cycle first. And he gave me discounts on multiple occasions even though i didn't ask for it. I think that one of the reasons is that I am cash patient, and another reason is that his office is great about that. So I do appreciate everything he has done for me so far. Which is why it puzzles me why he approved my June IUI cycle. i mean, he does know that high prolactin and TSH can cause miscarriage, among other things, so why tell me it is ok to go for it? He also gave me an option and I chose to wait. If there is anything I can do so my baby would be healthy, you bet I am going to do it.
I needed more answers about my issues, so naturally i couldn't sit still just waiting for my next cycle. Instead, I scheduled an appt with an endocrinologist. She is not a fertility doctor, but definitely qualified to answer my questions. She turned out to be amazing! She basically confirmed everything I have been thinking, agreed to order extra tests for in detail monitoring and assured me that I can come back here once I do get pregnant for continued monitoring. I feel so much better after that visit. I am especially happy because we will retest my labs on July 5ht.
Last night I also started on my first dose of dostinex. Not happy about having to take the med with all these potential side effects, so I hope that i won't need it for that long.
Tomorrow I have a saline ultrasound at my GYN. To say that i am terrified is an understatement. I don't know why this is so scary- I already had HSG without any incidents. I wasn't nervous about the test with radioactive dye. Well, this one is going to include just sterile saline, so it shouldn't be that scary, right? But it is. I guess it is the results I am concerned about. I have a uterine polyp and the doctor will decide it I need a surgery. And unlike my fertility doctor, this one will not downplay anything. In fact, he will probably exaggerate the problem without any regards in how I am going to take the news. I just want tomorrow to be over.
