Getting it off of my chest
Here is my story: I became ill. Literally woke up one morning feeling as if I had not slept in months. Extreme fatigue. I went to a doctor who said I had Infectious Mononucleosis and would feel better in about 2 weeks. Well, that was 2 years ago and I still wake up unrested. I have headaches. If I over-exert myself without resting I find it hard to get rested and get semi-energized (or as energized as I can). I have such a foggy brain. I mean really, I am 22 and can hardly get my thoughts together to articulate. It's frustrating. I have had test after test and all say I am healthy and dismiss what is going on with me because tests are normal. I am on my fourth doctor and I am getting so very discouraged. In researching I found CFS/ME and it was like someone took what I feel and put it into words. I am too young to be so fatigued. I am a single mom and my amazing 3 year old has figured out how to take care of herself because I get so exhausted and she does not want to bother me. I am crying as I write this because it affects her as well. I don't know if CFS is what is going on with me, but if anyone can advise me on their path to a diagnosis and how you got your doctor to accept it as a condition, it would help me greatly. Thanks for letting me pour my soul. I feel like I have found a place where I can be understood. My family and friends do not understand. They feel that because my blood tests say I am the picture of health that I should accept that and I "want" to be sick because I won't accept those test results. Life is great for me right now, I just graduated college and have an amazing job, I just want to feel competent again. I want to feel great. Thanks again for giving me a place to be the me that I am right now, kl

So very sorry for your suffering, sounds like cfs but it takes time to eliminate many other contributors of fatigue.I can understand your frustration of having normal blood tests and still feeling so unwell. Must be difficult with such limited energy and also looking after a young child.I am a long time sufferer of cfs, ,however that doesn\'t mean it will be the same for you. Some people recover, each case is individual. You could try to find a doctor who does alternative testing such as saliva tests to check your cortisol levels and hormones etc.You may have adrenal fatigue.Just a suggestion . I\'m in Australia.Where are you ? Bye for now, wishing you well, Di xo
The most difficult part of having a 3 year old in the midst of this is the fact that inside of me, I want to do some much more than my body wants to allow; but she will never know that because I am stuck in this body. Sometimes I win that battle and push through (only to feel sucky the next day) and other times I have to submit to it. I am in Missouri. Thanks for the suggestion! Any suggestions I can get are so very helpful. I will be looking into saliva tests and other causes of fatigue. Will keep you posted! Hugging you from afar! :-)
