Getting Harder

Talked to my sister in law this morning.  We shared our grief over missing my husband and her brother.  It was hard!  It seems when I talk to his family it gets hard all over again accepting he is gone.  Like Thelma said this morning, "I thought he would out live us."  She was referring to her older sister and herself. They are both older than their brother was.
I am getting through one day at a time and handling what I need to for Christmas, and some things I want to in memory of my dear husband.
The wind howled last night and it poured rain.  It was not a comfortable feeling.  I woke a lot and missed my husband so much.  I have tree branches all over the back yard from a very tall pine tree.
I will be happy for the next two weeks to get over, but then new feelings and needs will arise to process.  Firsts are so hard!
I'm feeling kinda bad this morning.  Tonight I will be joining my sister to watch the decorated boats on the river from her apartment.  That will be nice.

Lindanne,
I am still in my first year. Just a little less than two months away from the anniversary date. It seems the holiday seasnon intensifies the pain and magnifies the absence of our loved ones. I am sorry you had a difficult day. I hope this evening brings you pleasure. I cannot promise you, but I do believe there will be a time of joy in our lives again. Obviously from a completely different source, but it makes sense that our God would want us to live life as abundantly as we can, and so I think would our beloved spouses. May you know peace soon.

All we can do is take things one day at a time. I hope that you had a nice time tonight.

I hope tonight was a pleasant experience for you and you enjoyed the evening. I, too, am sorry that today was hard. The journey is a series of ups and downs but, in time, for all of us it will level out and it will become easier. I hope tomorrow is one of the easier days.
Hugs, Dianne

Hi Lindanne,

Guess its been about the same amount of time for us. I promised myself I would do fudge yesterday. Then after cleaning both my mothers pellet stove & mine after hauling fire wood I was just too tired. So, I said I was going to do it after church today. Now its almost 6 and I havent started it yet. I will be happy when the holidays are over. My second Christmas without my mom and the first without my wonderful husband & our beautiful 16 year old cocker. Taking care of Dick & trying to make our last Christmas together extra special help keep my mind off of my mother. Dick became so ill after the loss of Mom I did not really have time to mourn her. When I did break down Dick was there to hold me up. Now they are both gone & I am on my own. Im grateful that Mom raised me to be very strong. Some days I dont know if Im strong enough to handle this but I am doing my very best to make her & Dick proud.

I am hoping that a lot of my severe depression I am having right now is due to the holidays. They have always made me very sad. I hope that you have a good time with your sister tonight. I wish that I had family close by. I get so lonely. Three of my stepkids treat me well but they are in New York & Utah. I know that as time goes by contact will drop off. I have a ton of terrific friends but they are all out in CA. I have a big task of separating property some to sell, some to keep. 106 acres in all as we sold 65 acres a few years ago. I have sold some farm equipment. I will be keeping around 65 acres but a lot of it is heavy woods. I have decided what equipment to keep. So much to do. I will get thru. You will too. Take care, Hugs, Val
