Get yourself grounded
Whatever your problem happens to be from addiction to PTSD to anger management issues, there is one thing that will help. If you learn to stop thinking about whatever has you feeling off balance and think about ANYTHING ELSE.
One version of this is called "grounding." Get your head out of the sky and back in the right now, right here. RIGHT NOW there is no danger, nothing to be anxious about, nothing to run away from. (If there IS a real danger in front of you right here right now, go to my next journal entry, "learning self defense.")
There are a lot of tricks to get your head back in the here and now. Count to a hundred, play solitaire, sing a song, go to the "happy place" in your mind. Everyone has one that works best for them. Try a few dozen until you figure out what works best for YOU.
Yes, this requires some study and some effort on your part. Being human isn't for the lazy. Get to work, read, watch training videos. Talk to people that know more than you and actually THINK about what they say to you.
