Get Together and Moving On
I had my get together with 5 people late last week (more were supposed to come but did not), one being YG. I felt very nervous when going in but there is a good male friend who was there so I was more relaxed and knew he'd have my back. YG came late, hugged me when he showed up (and another much older woman hes known forever)and I acted completely normal. We chatted along with everyone else and no flirting was done by me. He said a few things that could be construed as playful but I did not bite. I kept it professional and normal like I would with any other person. After the get together, my male friend who had not met him before said he noticed YG seemed to be trying to impress me and puffed his chest out a bit when conversing with me. He works out so his chest is built. I found this rather laughable. Whatever. YG didnt stay when my male friend and I were talking afterward (male friend is not out of the closet but we think he is probably gay-not that I care one way or the other but he is "safe") and I was relieved. I am hoping not to have to see him till fall. I am concentrating on family, working on getting our house on the market and other things that need and deserve my attention. I cannot stop my mind all the time from thinking but I am working on what it chooses to dwell on and seeing if I can change that too. I feel in a much better place and like I can see things much clearly now without the obsessive thoughts working on me. Im not sure why his attention mattered but I am working constantly on not allowing attention from anyone to make that much of a difference. It shouldn't. I need to be more aware of what is going on inside and making sure I am in a good place both physically but mentally and more importantly emotionally. There are triggers I need to be cognizant of so I can move on and work on what really matters in my life, not attention and crumbs from people who really dont give a shit about me. Not sure why I give them much more attention than they deserve. That is a craptastic road I do not want to travel anymore.

Toward the end of my A's I felt the same way......giving people attention who give me crumbs. It was just a road, to be honest.......I was tired of traveling on.
I was in my late 40's acting like I was 16 and which boy I liked now and did he notice me and blah, blah, blah.....I never fully understood what that was all about. I think it was just an accumulation of things that we can all relate to.
Yes, I think it is due to some need for attention and something had to have been going on to even care what YG thought. It is draining and a big waste of precious time.
