Garage Sale Saturdays...The Hunt Is On!

Saturday’s “To Do” list depends on Head to Yard sales!
Planning my route the night time before, testing my gps on my cell phone and circling the garage sale listings from the paper can be a Friday night ritual.
The city My home is is a “Planned Community”. Which make it pre-planned and strategically presented. It can be split up into Sections and every section is represented by correspondence. The “P” section consists of streets starting with the letter P: Perkins, Parking, Parkins, Penny. You get the idea! Inside the P section, there are many retirees and young professionals. The W section is most likely the rich and ritzy division of town Then this B section is older but yet, more shabby. The R section is packed with young couples with children. The S Section is south of town and considered in the boondocks just because the lots are larger and it feels more country. Last but not least, the C Section is when the canals, intracoastal, boats, boats and more boaters live. Each section has its own characteristics and community. Although we're all part of the larger town, these “sections” develop over town to get a specific ambience. The region with a lot of children have 2 elementary schools and sidewalks throughout. The “Country” a part of town does not have any street lights and it is from the beaten track from the remainder of town. But, the city overall has foibles and laws that we all attempt to abide.

We're allowed Two garage sales a year. We are needed to buy a $5 permit for every of those sales and our signage is picked up and destroyed by noon on Saturday mornings. It isn't a conducive atmosphere to get a Garage Sale Business from your home!
Some people have ignored all the rules, communicated with their neighbors regarding their needs and plans and in actual fact make a fairly good living putting on the garage sale event monthly! However when they get caught disobeying the principles, they feign innocence on the rules and promise never to do it again! But, a month later when things have calmed down again, there may suddenly be another garage sale! Most of the people locally could care less and life continues on!
For the Wednesday prior to Friday/Saturday Garage Sale rush, a directory of all sales happens in your local shopping guide, The Pennysaver. People list their address, starting time and date of sale and a few “hook” items which will attract the throngs of super sale seekers. I faithfully pour over the Pennysaver dividing the sale addresses into town’s sections and plot my Saturday journey!
I leave for that sales until around 11am since the majority of of those sales end by 1 or 2pm. Therefore, once I purchase for the sale, the people are ready to unload all of the their stuff for virtually any price you offer them. Because i am NEVER looking for anything in particular… just real deals, I've been capable to purchase (without negotiation) entire rooms of furniture, enormous collections of old china and enough fabric to sew clothes for any third world nation! And I got it for around $5!!! I've got a weekly budget of approximately $20 for yard sales and just a couple of times have I ever gone over that amount!!!
So, with storage unit auctions , I will be plotting out about 10 sales in a 10 mile range of my home. I will leave at 11 am and turn into back by 3pm and i also know….The rear seat of the car is going to be LOADED!!!!
Oh! And Happy Junquin’!!!
