Fuzzy Math
The past couple of days I’ve been astounded at the total lack of…math skills? political integrity? I’m not sure…in our state. Our governor’s race is still too close to call (all the votes have not yet been counted, but are almost done), and yet the Secretary of State declared an unofficial winner on Election Night. And it’s turning out that the unofficial winner is getting less votes! Not way less, but enough. I mean, unless a substantial amounts of votes have been counted and that there is no way the opponent can gain the lead, a victor should NOT be declared. It’s kind of like the 2000 presidential race all over again.
Even crazier is the House of Reps race in my district. All the votes are still not counted & the race is within 1,000 votes, but the GOP candidate conceded on Election Night. Now it’s turning out (so far) that he has more votes than the Dem. I don’t understand that! Wasn’t he running because he WANTED to win?
Anyway, work is cooling down a little. There is still plenty to do, but there are some periods of respite, so that is nice.
My sisters both got their checks and are very happy. My youngest sister even sent me a message that said how much she appreciated that “anyone in the family could count on” me. Aw… (I gotta remember this when I feel invisible/ridiculed at family gatherings!)
Things are status quo with my son. Report cards should be coming out shortly. He may be participating in our church’s praise band with his violin, but we’ll see. I don’t know if they actually have notes, or if it’s just chords. If it’s just chords, I know he doesn’t improvise. But it’s nice that he wants to participate. He goes to youth group regularly, except this past week, he wanted to stay home & watch Dancing With the Stars with me.
My daughter has expressed an interest in attending high school 2 towns away because of the program they offer. I’ve looked it over & I’m not wildly impressed. I’m not sure it’ll be worth her getting up extra early to take the bus all the way there. I think I’d need to attend an open house to really decide.
