Winters are a more difficult time for kids than it is for parents. Their play time is reduced and they have to stay indoors which cuts down their fun time on the commercial playground equipment. Parents also find it hard to come up with exciting activities to keep their little ones entertained at home. For a while the winter festivities allow for a good time but when they are over boredom kicks in. Lack of play time isn’t only harmful for the physical activity routines of kids but it can also cause them to become irate and become lazy. So here are some ideas for parents and kids to have a fun winter no matter how cold the weather is outside.

Stay Excited For The Season

The first thing that hits us with the winter blues is the dread of staying indoors. Stay prepared for winters with pretty clothes and all the winter gear and maintain the routine of stepping out of home at least for a couple of minutes each day. Go for snowboarding, skiing or build a snowman in your backyard. Have some fun time snowballing and have a hot chocolate cup afterwards. These activities will allow your children to have hours of fun without getting bored even in the dead of winter.

Indoor Fun Ideas

Having exhausted the outdoor options or if the weather outside is too unfriendly for a snowball fight, gather your kids around the fireplace and play games. Chess, cards, charades and several other interesting games can be played within the comfort of home and in warmth. This could be an excellent time for you to bond with your little ones and make winters interesting enough so they don’t miss playing on playground structures.

Mix Indoors And Outdoors

Have a bonfire or a Bar B Que party with friends and family or have it just with your kids. Light up a fire and include your kids in the preparation of meals. Sit around the fire or in a room with a fire burning outside for a picnic like feel in your home. Alternatively you can have a little competition between your kids on clearing the drive way. The one who does it neatest and fastest gets a prize in the end.

Explore Indoor Options Out Of Home

Winter asks for staying indoors, not being stuck within the house. There are numerous restaurants, play areas and other recreational places for you to visit with your kids. Have a trip to the museum or zoo. Go to a library and read books with your kids, or have a little book club meeting at home. Everyone gets to read their favorite book or the same book and then share their stories or ideas. Take your little ones out for a nice dinner in a cozy restaurant around the corner. To add to the fun, wrap your little ones in warm clothes and walk to the restaurant soaking in the beauty of snow and winter weather with a delightful warm soup upon your arrival at the eatery.
