"Fuel LOW lite"

This post is in red "just" for Jen....  I wanted to let you all know just in case you did not, that your Fuel Low Lite or need fuel lite what ever you call it is lighted NOT ONLY when you need gas, but is a indication of LOW FUEL PRESSURE in the fuel pump (that is what makes the light go on, NOT the float level in the tank. Low pressure in the fuel pump means the pump HEATS UP!!  If you ride with this lite on too much you burn out the fuel pump WHICH IS A MAJOR JOB TO REPAIR. My fuel pump is almost $300 just for the part, thank God we can remove the tank and do it ourselves. A garage would charge about another $250.00 in labor to do the job! FYI guys!!  Now there is some info THAT IS NOT IN YOUR CAR MANUAL!!

Denny, I didn\'t know this. Its important to know. i will keep an eye out for that. Saturns do not have a fuel low light. it dings and tells you by the odometer when the gas tank is near empty. Thanks for the important reminder. Besides, its almost winter - Never leave less than a 1/2 tank in your gas.

IN THE WINTER IT IS ALWAYS ADVISABLE TO KEEP YOUR TANK FULL IF YOU LIVE IN A COLD CLIMATE. AND DENNY YOU ARE EXACTLY RIGHT GARAGES DO CHARGE QUITE A BIT FOR REPLACING THE PUMPS. I DO MY OWN OR MY KIDS DO IT FOR ME. WINTER BRINGS ON ACCIDENTS AND SITTING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR POSSIBLY HOURS. CARRY SNACKS WATER AND A BLANKET WITH YOU. JUST IDEAS FROM A FRIEND.

Good point as well Jen, a half full allows condensation to form in the inside of the tank and then into your gas line which can freeze! Thanks for reminding me!
