Frustrating past few months
Since being diagnosed of sorts 2 months ago (longest 2 months of my life I swear), my whole world has been turned upside down. I used to be so active, crafty, fun, outgoing, happy. I could draw, dance, ride horses, run 5 miles, sleep through the night. I could write, do yard work, help my hubby work on cars, go off-roading, carry groceries in from the car, play with my kids and my nieces and nephews, go hiking during deer hunt, worked as a Hospice CNA. Now nearly everything that I do, other than lounge on the couch, causes pain.
I thought last Feb when I fell at work that it would be a temporary life change. The dr would fix my shoulder and I'd go to physical therapy and then I could go back to my life. But the pain after my surgery hasn't gone away, it's just worse. Workers comp thought I was nuts, but my dr thought that possibly it may be a pinched nerve. Low and behold, there was something on the MRI that they had not expected to see.
When the dr told me about it, he really didn't know what it was. The nurse for workers comp knew and brushed it off as nothing. I went home and was scared out of my mind.
Now that I know more about SM and understand my symptoms and where they stem from, I'm a little better off. However, I haven't yet seen a neurologist, but will be in a week and a half. Workers comp first told me that it was a genetic problem, when I challenged that because I had learned that for it to be genetic I needed to have a Chiari I Malformation and I did not. Then they said that it was from a car accident I was in in 2003. I told them they were full of it. They would have told me something like that.
I called the clinic that I had my last MRI in 2004 for the MVA and had them send me the report and the MRI. The report clearly states that there is nothing out of the ordinary on the C-Spine MRI. That there are no extensions from the brain lobes.
I sent this report to them as they have yet to get their own copy. Workers Comp is sending me for an independent medical examination next week to see if this dr feels that my SM is related to my work accident. All I can do is pray for the best and the truth.
My life is crazy and frustrating and raising 3 kids practically on my own as my hubby's job takes him away for 6 days at a time, it's hard.
Ok I'm done with my pitty party.
