Frustrated with my health

I'm so frustrated with my health this year! I've had hyperparathyroidism symptoms for years now: Bone pain, muscle fatigue, headaches, muscle cramps, mental fog. For years my labs have shown high parathyroid hormone, low vitamin D and borderline high calcium yet my family doctor wouldn't refer me to my endocrinologist because she said my calcium wasn't high enough! Bone density scans this year showed I have osteoporosis again! It took my colon cancer diagnosis for her to take me seriously and finally refer me to my endocrinologist. After waiting a long time for the referral to go through I find out that I have to wait another six months to see my endocrinologist! I see her in August or early September! Still no definitive appointment yet! If I do need another parathyroid surgery they don't do it here so I'd have to go to either another city an hour and a half away or another province!

The after effects of the colon cancer surgery are still with me and I believe they always will be. Half of my rectum and half of my sigmoid colon can't be removed without any effect. I either have many small bowel movements a day, am constipated or get diarrhea. I can't take lax-a-day anymore because just one dose causes diarrhea. I still get lots of bloating and gas, cramping no matter what I eat. I still don't eat all foods yet. I'm glad my colonoscopy this year was clear. I have my ct scans October 5th. In the back of my mind there's always the concern that the cancer is in my lymph vessels or will return. I think that fear will always be with me. No word on genetic counseling or testing yet. 18 months is much too long to wait for that! I don't even known how long the genetic testing itself will take! Everything is about waiting here! The thought of ever needing chemo scares me.

I've had this asthma flare up since May and it's showing no signs of stopping! The pulmonologist was no help when I saw him and even when I called to ask about my tapering he didn't offer any help! Just stay on 35mg longer then drop down! Even though I told him that dropping down to 30mg causes me a lot of problems! I want to get off of prednisone! I hate the bloating, moon face, swollen feet and hands! I'm so tired of always struggling to breathe! Waking up every day congested, short of breath and feeling like crap! Always being worried about going outside due to humidity, pollen or anything else out there that bothers me! I don't think I will be able to get allergy shots because I think they will be too expensive and they aren't guaranteed to work! I don't even know if it's allergies causing this flare up! Why won't the pulmonologist take me seriously! I'm supposed to get pulmonary function testing done at the hospital but that could take months! The pulmonologist won't see me for another six months! What am I supposed to do in the meantime? Just continue to suffer?

I\'m sorry for all your troubles. No one should have to wait 18 months. That is way too long.

we gotta find you an enclosure to step in and when you step back out your body will be cured! Or we call it positive thinking that we gotta get you thru these tuff times little by little..ok someone push and someone pull her along

I wish that they had something like that annette! I have too many issues going on at once.

You certainly DO have so many issues going on at once! Poor thing. while I\'ve never had cancer, I do know how hard it is managing a lot of medical conditions at once. And I\'m so sorry you have to wait so long! That\'s ridiculous! The healthcare system is so different there.
I wish I had answers for you or could predict the future (or put you And me in an enclosure that fixed these bodies of ours!). I I I hope you.
I Hope you know you\'re not alone, you\'re heard and supported. Be gentle with yourself. This is one hellava journey you\'re on. Not for the weak at heart! You\'re a strong cookie just for facing what each day brings.
Sending you love and gentle hugs my friend...

How is your diet lately have you been able to eat a regular amount of soft fiber like avacodo? I recommend getting hard wood floors to help asthma. Unless you are allergic to wood. Also I would recommend talking to a doctor about something called the ragweed shot it is something new that is supposed to help calm down your immune system.

I get avocado on subs when I get them. I do eat fiber. I can\'t get wood flooring because we rent our apartment. I\'m looking into allergy shots but may not be able to get them if insurance doesn\'t cover them and if I can\'t get them done locally. I rely on buses, taxis and walking to get places.
