Frustrated, upset and confused
I had a challenging day. Had an okay day at work. Before I left for work I sent my brother, who I don't talk to much because he emotionally abused me when we lived together when we were in NY (lived with him for 8 years) a message on FB. He is a magician and I thought he might like to know about a new show on ABC called "Deception." I had sent him some e cards for St Patrick's day. Anyway he said he wanted to talk to me. Well considering any time I have had contact with him he only wants to talk about what problems he has. He's never helped me out at all. He took money from me, never paid me back. I lived with him cause I had no where else to go. I built friendships online and ended up living with those friends over the years.
So I didn't say anything after he said he wanted me to make time to talk to him.
Then while at work, I wanted to go to Burger King, they had closed up the one I usually go to, I don't go all that often, it has been closed for about 6 months. They finally opened it up. I go in and all I wanted was a whopper JR and an oreo shake. Mind you they re modeled the place. I figured that meant they brought in new equipment too. The soda machine was brand new. Anyway there was a lady, not sure if she was phillipino or from some other Asian country. I've dealt with her before and she seems to have problems understanding me when I talk to her. Cause she asked me if I wanted the whopper with cheese. I politely told her no. She asked me about 3 or 4 times and then she told me the shake machine was not working. um YOU JUST reopened, how can the shake machine be broken?! I remember times I went in their before they had closed and their machine was broken. Mind you I have gone in there maybe once in a blue moon. It's not like I'm there every day. I was looking forward to having a nice lunch. Then I complained to the manager and she was no help. She placated me with some BS about "Don't worry about it ma'am you're my customer. Then she gave me a dirty look. I did get my whopper JR. But I am going to take their survey and complain about that place on yelp. There used to be a Wendy's in that area and I was treated VERY nicely, unfortunately it closed up last Aug. I think it probably didn't get enough traffic in there. That staff was SO nice. I am hoping they would open up a McDonalds in that same spot. I like McDonald's MUCH better, they are customer oriented and anytime I've had any issues they were very attentive and wanted to make things right. NOT BURGER KING!
I am trying to relax and put this crap behind me. Not sure what I'll do about my brother. His birthday is on Mar 26th, I have a card I'll send him.
Thanks for listening.

I'm sorry you had such a tough day, Linda. Regarding your brother, I can understand why you'd be concerned and confused. We are supposed to be able to count on the emotional support of family, and it sounds like your brother has been anything but kind. If you decide to talk with him, maybe set up some boundaries in your mind. What behaviors are you willing/not willing to tolerate? How will you express this to him, if necessary? Have you ever told him, in writing or in person, how what he did made you feel?
I've never been a fan of Burger King (or McDonald's, to be honest). Back when I could eat burgers, I always went to Wendy's. I'm sorry that you encountered a broken machine, and especially, rudeness. I'm surprised that they didn't at least offer you a coupon for a future purchase. They definitely need some customer service training.
Big hugs.
