FRUSTRATION
I have been getting so excited to go see Hillary next Tuesday. She lives in Bozeman, Montana (Belgrade actually) and is in her sophmore year at Montana State. Wouldn't you believe it, I started getting a pain in my right lung everytime I took a breath. At first I thought I just overdid it. Then yesterday it started getting worse and I bumped my predizone up to 10 mg. That didn't work. I was ready to go to the Doc today because I was in pain. Then I remembered the med guy told me all they would do is increase the predisone and give me more albuterol. I decided to bump it again to 20 mg this afternoon, see how it went and get a hold of my pulmonary doctor in the morning. I am feeling better but it still hurts. I do not want massive amounts of predizone. I have no fever, my oxygen levels and sob is about the same. Just a big pain in my side exactly where my right lung is. I know I have contact him tomorrow no matter what. I do have a standing appointment to see him on Monday (leave Tuesday). I'll be sick if I can't go see Hilly Bug. One thing I did do today was get everything ready to take to Montana, put it in a box (clothes, bath/cosmetics, camera, medicine, etc.), took it to the post office and mailed it to Hillary. Now all I have to deal is getting better and at the airport my ticket, oxygen and walking to the gate. NO LUGGAGE. And oh yes, my new little Netbook from Santa. I better get better. And oh yes, I have a couple of new changes happening in my household. Two new little critters are coming to live with me when I return. The cat is going s... in her litter box when she sees this!!! Mofre will be revealed.

Hope you get to feeling better and enjoy your trip to Montana. It sounds like the cat may in for a interesting 2010 !!. Be safe and have a Great New Year.
Shirley, did you by chance overdo the lifting or straining when you were getting ready to go to the post office? The reason I ask is that if I bend or exercise in a certain position, I get really sharp consistent pains that seem to go around the back and land in the area of the lungs. This started happening in Rehab in 2008 and at that time the doctors prescribed a muscle relaxant for me.
Usually one or two and I am good to go again.
Normally,I don\'t think it is advisable for us to take them but the doctor assured me that it was ok in moderation.
Hope you get to feeling better. Have a great trip.
Hope your feeling better and can go on your visit. Sometimes I apparently have been coughing a bunch in my sleep and wake up with a really sharp painunder the shoulder along my lung- makes it painful to take a deep breath. For me its some spinal ribs out of place and my Chiro can put me to rights pretty quick.
Hugs, Lisa
It really sounds like you are on top of this little flare. I trust that you\'ll be much better by Monday, so you can fly to Bozeman. You are SO organized, sending your stuff ahead like that. That\'s a wonderful idea! I relaly hope you will get to see Hillary, and start of what will be a very happy New Year for you! Love & hugs, Sue

Thank you. I contacted a pulmonary physician at Kaiser and they had me go in for a exray (I just had a CT scan a month ago). Nothing showed on it. She said she liked the self management program I was on and to stick with it until I saw my doctor on Monday. She said she suspects it is some sort of an inflamation because the predisone is helping some. She said if it was a blood clot (didn\'t like her going in that direction) the roids wouldn\'t help and I don\'t display any other symptoms for a blood clot. She suspects that my head first dive into the outdoor trash can may have some contributing factors as I did knock my ribs on the way in, though I was already hurting before the dive.
Hope that pain is easing up and that you are on your way to Montana! And, I hope you don\'t have to wait in long lines at the airport with perhaps increased security levels. Have a most wonderful trip!
Hugs
Joni
