frustrated...

I think T is again flying "under the radar" (or maybe) and I am not sure where he is heading - time will tell, I guess.  He is hanging out with kids who are in recovery but I saw some talk on-line that they were making plans to go to a head shop.  T had asked them (on-line) when they get back, if they would like to go with him to play pick-up basketball at the local rec center.  We drove and picked them up when they were done but I swear I smelled a faint aroma of weed.  Could it have been my imagination?  If it wasn't what I thought it was T seemed fine.  It is just that if his friends are doing it and he's not, it is a matter of time.  And I know what that means.  I am starting to see some subtle behaviors that remind of the old days of "questionable days' - is he using or isn't he?  Hopefully, he isn't.  So what am I doing?  I know I'm supposed to be focusing on myself (I have improved in this department) but it isn't always easy.  I feel that time is a ticking away before he's out of the system (March 13th) and no longer has the support or the court consequences.  And he turns 18 in 6 short months.....which scares me.  For some parents they can't wait until their child turns 18 and then they are no longer legally responsible for them but .....well -- I can't think about that right now.  Hopefully, he will continue to do well and accept any help that he may need.  He may be a legal adult in 6 months, but he's very immature for his age.  Between his ADD and usage, I believe he's about 2 or 3 years behind.  It's too bad the system doesn't recognized that.  Some kind of test so that they be treated as their "true" maturation age.  But that is not how it works so I must be prepared for whatever comes to be. Oh -  I was so touched when the priest from my church called me.  He was one of the community members that were invited to the school to talk about the drug problem.  He had asked me for a copy of the Parent Resource Packet I created at the meeting, so he called me to thank me for "finally a practical way to help parents nativagate through this situation".  His nephew struggled with this problem, so he knows on a personal level what it's like.  Anyway, I belong to a HUGE church that just added a huge addition to accommodate all the people who attend there.  Needless to say, this priest is very busy and has a lot of responsibility - not only is this church big but it also has a big school (K-8), too.  So when he called and said he wanted to get together and brainstorm about the drug problem,  I thought he meant Jan. 23 rd of this month but then realized he meant Feb 23rd!  I am looking forward to meeting with him because if I can't get done what I would like to at the high school, at least, I can somewhere else.   My next project (something that doesn't involve the high school because I don't need permission from the principal) is to see what I can do about instituting drug parenting classes for our community.  There is nothing of the sort.  The only ones offered are the ones that are a part of the treatment centers.   In our case, however, my husband and I were invited to attend sessions at a local center, because we were a "special" case.  Our son was accessed but he refused treatment.  The drug counselor kindly invited us.  It was a godsend.  I hope the dear Lord helps me with this because I don't even know where to begin....
