ANYWAY, I WILL STAND UP AND BE COUNTED.
SOMETIME AGO, I PULLED SOMEONE UP FOR DISCUSSING, AND THEN RECOGMENDING, AND ADVISING A FELLOLW SITE MEMBER OF DS, TO INCREASE HIS MEDICATION.
THIS WITHOUT FIRST CONSULTING HIS TREATING CLINITION SPECIALIST.
AS I WAS MORE THAN FAMILIAR WITH THE SAID MEDICATION AND IT'S SIDE EFFECTS, WHICH CAUSES DYSKINESIA TYPE TREMOURS, I OFFERED INPUT ACCORDINGLY.
POINTING OUT THE FOLLY OF THE HARMFULL ADVISE AND THE DANGER OF ANY SUBSEQUENT INCREASE IN MEDICATION TO BOTH PARTIES.
AS NO TWO PEOPLE HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME SYMPTOMS, THE REACTION TO ANY MEDICAION COULD WELL DIFFER TOO. I THINK IT IS FROUGHT WITH DANGER FOR THE UNQUALIFIED TO COMPARE AND ADVISE ON MEDICATION.
I AM REPARED TO TALK ABOUT MY OWN MEDICTION, DIFFERENT BRAND NAMES NOTWITHSTANDING, YET I AM RELUCTANT TO TALK OF OTHER PEOPLE'S MEDICATONS.
ONE REASON IS THAT I AM UNQUALIFIED, AND THE SECOND REASON IS THE DIFFERENT BRAND NAMES, WHICH CAN CAUSE CONFUSION.
THAT'S IT, CALL ME TWO FACED IF YOU WILL,

Well, this seems clear enough to me. 1. It is true you would not want to increase your own medication without talking to your doctor first. 2. I think we are all here to share and weigh experiences, knowing we may differ in those experiences. I personally look over other people\'s experiences with meds and say, ahh, I see, that is a possibility to be aware of. But I don\'t think, I\'ll never take that med, because so and so had trouble with it. Knowing that a med might cause xyz reaction makes it not such a surprise if you notice it, and then sends you more quickly to your doctor for advice and a possible change up or down on that med. So for me the ability to share information is invaluable! We are here for that purpose.
The drug companies business is to make money by selling drugs. The doctors prescribe based on information provided by the manufacturs. Annacdotal information by individuals who have specific information without a profit or other agenda is highly valuable to DS users. Often the side effects are in the very fine print and lets keep in mind we are dealing with brain chmistry. Therefore keep on giving advice on any medications reactions good or bad and let our DS friends use it as thy see it applies to their own lives.
