from the lake....

here we are almost a month and a half since our signing for our new home and we have only really lived here for about 3 weeks. the rest of the time has been spent on the road. a trip to SC to help our son move and get settled in for grad school....a second funeral in MN. this time we spent more time with family and took our time getting back.
my wife can now recognize poison ivy....i can too, but only from a non-participatory perspective. i feel sorry for her.
we decided to reroof the house because we came across a sale on shingles that saved quite a bit of money. unfortunately, since starting this project, we have recieved more rain than the previous six months.
but for the most part life here is quiet; it is reclusive; it is different. hard enough to start over in a new locale when you are young. but to do so when you become a senior citizen has its own hurdles. when you are young, you meet quite a few people through work. not so when you are retired. when you are young and have kids at home, you have an agenda that is full. not so when there is only two of you at the table. when you are young, you have a lot of energy and expend it in manners such as sporting events, or outside activities. not so when you are older and have health issues.
but church, grandkids and a roof in the middle of being replaced does consume our time. as days go by, we will become a little more involved in other activities.
