Friend in trouble again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a friend who almost died a couple of months ago. He had been drinking for almost a month. He went into an alcoholic seizure and almost died.  I loaded him in the ambulance and I followed it to the hospital.. I stayed with him till they got him stabilized and the shakes started to subside. He was there 5 or 6 days and for the last 7 weeks, he has done good.  2 weeks ago last Sunday, he came to my church service and I smelled alcohol on him but, I didn't want to jump him because he doesn't like confrontation and he also doesn't like most preachers.  Last Sunday he came to my church and he was fine. He hugged me and said he would see me next Sunday.  I just got a call from his mom and she asked me  if something happened between me and Richard and I said no. I told her that he had come to the church 2 weeks ago with alcohol on his breath but last Sunday he was fine and he told me he would see me next Sunday. She said yesterday, he told her he was going to Kentucky to see his kids. They live with their mom and her new husband.  He evidetly got drunk, caused an issue with his oldest son and left.  He hit something, wrecked his car and is now in jail for DUI in Ohio.  How do you save someone from themselves? He has taken the cure 3 times, been in rehab 4 times and now this. I am not mad at him but, I am very disappointed with him. He ain't a kid, he is 47 years old. man, this upsets me.

Ahhh! Its the nature of the beast unfortunately. He has a monkey on his back and you know perhaps it is a Blessing he is incarcerated for a bit. It may give him time to think about his choices. There will be help for him when he is ready to reach out for it
love to you dear friend

You can only help those that are willing to help themselves. Sometimes the more you help someone it seems the more they sabatage themselves. When he is really ready he will need all the support he can get and he knows you will be there for him.

There are some people who suffer with alcoholism their entire life. of course they make others suffer too. The binge drinker is one that can hardly be cured from alcohol unless they take the medicine that makes them sick if they drink. It is sad but it is acurate. And there is nothing you can do and nothing you have left undone.
