Friday

Good Morning SOTH! It's Friday and a 3 day week-end - for that I'm grateful. I have been fighting a cold/cough all week so the extra day will be welcome!

I've been in a "funk" lately...a grief funk.....The thoughts that keep going around & around in my head are so damn annoying. I try to read positive things, do something with my time but in my head, it is relentless....

Hunter is okay - he is a very in-sightful 16 year old. His grades are not the best but he is changing before my eyes and maturing. I feel the grades will come along. He has been through the unimaginable in losing his mom so I'm grateful he is a good kid. I was able to listen to him as he talked about school and living with Bryn and her family. I didn't comment, just listened. He said, Thank you for just listening and not commenting or trying to Fix it.....yay for me, cuz the hardest thing to do is NOT to try & fix it.....because as we have talked about it before, "it can't be fixed".  It always takes me a couple of days to come out of a funk when I'm with him...just wish his mom was here. She would be so proud of him. Miss you Jennifer!

We are supposed to have a big storm this week-end...4-6" of rain in less than 4 hours....hope that will get California out of the drought...I'm selfish, I guess - I only want SUNSHINE!

Take good care of yourselves, sisters....Sending hugs & love

Understanding the cycles that we seem to need to spin through and I find too that when I have a physical ailment going on the grief is always heightened.

What a huge noticing of Hunter of how much he appreciated you holding the space for him and listening. This is not easy to do, I know, yet isn't it the best when it happens?! Pats on the back, Vicki. You know, school is just not for everyone and I realized that when I taught. Hunter is growing and maturing and I have no doubt will find his path into something that he can excel in and most likely will be one who will learn with the hands on training as that is how he feels he learns? Those darn books are just not for everyone, are they?

Enjoy your long weekend and sending much love and aloha to Jennifer's mom from Douglas and me.

Hi Vicki, when Eddie passed away my grandchildren ' s grades plummeted. Now 7 years later they did complete high school and Josh has his Associate ' s degree. He works full time and Christina did not go on to college but she landed a good job and is doing well too. When these poor kids lose a parent it is just devastating of course. As you said Hunter is maturing and over time will find what he loves and brings him fulfillment. So hard for us grandmoms to see our child's kids in pain. But thankfully they have our support. We are a big part of their village. Kudos to you for just being there for Hunter and listening. So important but hard to do as I know I'd like to fix everything thing for Eddie's kids but that's robbing them of the opportunity to problem solve and grow. Still hard not to jump in & try to fix.

Enjoy your long weekend and I hope you feel better.
Loving you and dearest Jennifer, Linda ♡

Good job on listening gramma! We as mom's and grammar are fixers and at least for me is VERY hard for me not to at least try to put a fix n it. Con gears!
I too have been in a funk. A very bad one for me. I think we all have our funk times. Just know we are all here and we walk the same crappy journey.
