fridays

funny, when i was young, i couldn't wait for fridays because i would get out of school for the weekend to play
when i was a little older, i couldn't wait for fridays because i would get out of work for the weekend and party.
when i was a little more older i couldn't wait for fridays because gramma would take both kids for at least one weekend night and i could have peace and quiet.
when i was some more older i couldn't wait for fridays because i could 'go' and not worry because the kids were older enough to watch themselves and i could have adult time.
when i was older yet when the kids grew up and out, i couldn't wait for fridays for weekend visits to and from the kids. i enjoyed the 'empty nest' but i loved my kids too.
when i was even older i found out that fridays really didn't matter anymore. i was single, unencumbered and could do what ever i damn well wanted and didn't need to answer to anyone.
ohhhhh, what a wonderful adult time of life!
i'm even older yet, still single, still unencumbered (grin), my own boss, my own time, my own decisions.
now i am older even more so and i find again that i can't wait for fridays. not because i can go party. not because of a need for adult time. not because of visits. and not because i can do what ever i want.
no, now days i can't wait for fridays to get here because friday is when my daughter and i share our weekly phone call. really about the only one we can afford.
now i have company during the wait. and we both can hardly wait for fridays.
