FRESH START

I am again overwhelmed and caught up in too much at one time, but this time it is almost the perfect result I have been dreaming of. ( I can actually visualize Atpeacemary on her patio overlooking the water and the peace she has described.)

I have an offer and buyer for my house, another apartment opened up in the complex I so wanted to get into, I have made arrangements to transfer to my original location I worked at when I started years ago and I have just been contacted by a program my health insurance company offers to help me get healthier and reverse diabetes. Of course I do have slight hurdles to get past.... but eventually I will. (fingers crossed)

A young couple has had several deals fall through at the last minute and they are eager to move ASAP . I have family lined up to help me move, but on the 23rd and 24th of APRIL.  I should hear today if I have final approval for the apt. If I do, they will put through remaining paperwork and the closing will be on May 5th. It is a crazy short amt of time, but I will somehow manage it.

I am waiting for marriage certificate in mail and have to run back this morning to pick up completed paperwork for dr report on physical evaluation for Disability. I was told I will immediately receive survivor benefit from late hubby now, but if and when my own claim is approved I will get an additional $300 added to my amt as his total was a bit higher than mine. The rent is steep where I am going, but it is exactly what I need... first floor, close to family and work, decent space ( and bonus storage off of patio)  I have no lake to look at, but woodland and may catch a glimpse or two  of Bambi. lol

Work is giving me a bit of grief. My current store has been having issues with help and losing new mgrs right and left. I have been there and sticking it out forever. Since I was back up they counted on me to pick up slack and I did, but now with me doing part time, I feel like I am not there enough to do what I can. I hear this most recent mgr is also overwhelmed and ready to hang it up as well.  The thing is they have been dragging their feet and we have been shorthanded for a long time. (Had they got this under control sooner they may have kept the last mgr before he just walked out. )  So here I was all excited and planning on working beginning of next week then taking following week off to get settled and ready for old store.

Supervisors were in while I was working yesterday  andmain one tells me I need to bare with them til they can replace ME (I am already cut to 18- 20 hrs  so I could be replaced, but I am the one doing all the extra that I can as all the newbies are just getting broken in )  I am a bit annoyed at the fact that I will be going 40 minutes back and forth each day I work (only 3 days, but still)  Now having just an 18 hr paycheck and forced to spend half of it on gas pisses me off.( Especially considering an asst mgr who traveled a good distance to help one day at our store was told to submit a form to be reimbursed for mileage) The store director at my original store has said just let him know when I am coming (I have worked with him before. He is very nice)

I am in contact with a health coach type thing with my insurance. The nurse and I were discussing programs and she suggested I try VIRTA. I have filled out medical history and discussed it with a representative (who has also completed the program and had very good results herself)  It sounds very good if I do qualify it is completely covered by CBC. I need to do another bloodwork for them (as well as my family dr) but am afraid my numbers will be up as I was telling her with all going on I am not always taking time to cook healthy and sometimes go for what's quick (not getting in all my veggies...and taking in too many carbs.)

As I understand it, I will be set up with their equipment at home. Blue tooth scale and glucose monitering system. Supplies to do daily sticks as well as measure food . It will have a daily virtual check in and is run by  medical professionals. They will help me with menu and shopping plan and also has a site to chat with others in the program for help and to share ideas and recipes.  I am anxious to get their packet and see the food exchanges. I have been able to cut carbs in the past  but not completely. She tells me I may still have a few (Doubt I could survive cold turkey. lol)

The back has been bothering me the past couple days. They had me working full days (said after next week I can only do 6 hrs) I am worried when disability sees I have done theses 8 hr days they will think I can handle it, but truthfully it is wearing me out. Currently trying to spend extra time lugging and sorting boxes... plus long days and appts and physical therapy  (plus having to lug boxes back into hiding between showings) was killing the back. For now the showings are haulted for the current perspective buyer. So I have a slight reprieve.

Forgive me for babbling once again, but I am just so excited so you all are the lucky souls getting to hear of it.   (Have you missed me and my CHATTINESS?)  LOL   I hope you all are doing well and have also found a bright spot or two as I have.

Love and hugs, Kim

Kim I would suggest getting a continuous glucose monitoring system....there are two....I was with one but now will be switching to
Dexcom system because I would be able to put the badge on my belly or my thigh....the other is Libra 2 and it you wear the badge on the back of your arm....I had issue that got bruising under the last one and doc told me to go to Dexcom system....you read them with your cell phone if you have Iphone or some other smart phone that works....

good luck with moving....it is a hell of a thing to do and being rushed sucks worse....hope you can do it....

Got word I was approved for apt so all is official.

Bill they will be setting me up with all equipment necessary so I will have what they suggest. I know all will be connected virtually and with my cell phone somehow.

Kim, you will be fine. I know it is a lot to handle at once but think of the end prize. You will have an apartment you wanted. A job that you like and you can relax. You can do it. As for those disability people, tell them, that's nice when they start. You can prove that you are only doing this because of the move. Hugs and stay safe. hehehe Yes, the view of the lake is amazing. Especially the morning sunrise wow. The peace and quiet is priceless.

Wow, you have been busy! And it sounds like it's all good. I'm thankful you are being so productive and wise about options. May God bless your move, may it go smoothly, and I wish you joy in your new place.

I’m so happy for you about your apartment and selling your house. Great things all around! Even good changes can be stressful. You are doing awesome!

My husband has been a diabetic since childhood. He’s 56 and just recently started using the glucose monitoring sensor in his arm. It’s convenient but not entirely necessary. It still comes down to learning how food and lifestyle affect your health. I think based on what my husband’s experience has been, learning about diabetes management is far more important than the manner in which glucose is checked. So definitely go by whatever program they are offering you now for sure. It’s definitely a holistic thing. It’s great you are taking advantage of this kind of support available to you,

There is so much stress involved in owning a home. I look forward to you being able to just relax and not worrying about having to fix things, and embarking on this new chapter in your life.

You are doing it, Kim! Big hug!!

Thanks everybody. We'll a slight monkey wrench with the medical program . VIRTA is not covered by company . I spoke with our HR person and she said they were just offered this coverage but are concerned it is too intense for our members. They do offer another monitoring system, but I am still left to learn and follow menu plan on my own.

That program was KETO based but closely monitored by physicians.
I've been told total KETO can be dangerous to diabetics.
All is a catch 22,(diet and diabetes, exercise and physical limits) but I will figure it out

Kim, be very careful with any diet plan. Just eat everything in moderation. I have diabetes too. Look it up on line. It is not hard to follow. Once you calmed down, it is pretty easy. hehehe I eat everything. 45 grams of carb for each meal and 2 - 15 grams snack. walking, even around the apartment helps. I see people with walkers walk up and down the hallway. I do that during the winter months and when it is miserable outside. Do you have a gym in your building, we do and I will use those sit down bikes. Just sit and peddle away. Hugs and stay safe.
