Freezin Friday
The temprature started dropping yesterday and the rain started. I am still hoping to make it to a pow wow this weekend and they have campsites there too-maybe I will get lucky and someone will share their site with me. I have not ever gotten into my Native American culture but as I get older Im more drawn to the spirituality of it. The town I'm from in Oklahoma and the surrounding areas are predominantly Native American. Native Americans have always been to me a very reserved and spiritual people.
I am worried about Roomie-I know that he is depressed and I am trying not to take all that on. I know that I partly have contributed to it by telling him I am not in love with him and starting to spend alot of time out on my own. I spoke with my RV friend yesterday-he has a potential job offer 3 hrs from here and I told him he needs to do whats best for him. He asked me if I would consider going-I'm not in a place right now to make that decision. I have this medical thing going on and want to get a clean bill of health and can't leave my job with health insurance. I gotta do whats best for me right now. I did talk to the insurance comapny and they told me I can set up a mammogram at any time, so, today I will be getting that set up and start moving forward on finding out whats causing this pain.
It is uncomfortable enough to keep me worrying during the night. Best not to make any important decisions now and just focus on that. I hate unpredictability.

Most definitely get that mammogram done and find the problem. Less worry means more sleep at night and and being well rested makes it easier to handle stress. I hope it's an easy fix....Good luck with that.
I hope so too---unfortunately my mind travels to the darkest places.
Yay you for not taking on Roomie's depression. I am thoroughly committed to my *Roomie* and know better than to take on his psycho yaddahs while I am fielding my own psychoses(pl). For my twisted nickel, the hardest part of codependency is being compassionately honest about how much I **can** help while my own needs are breaking my mind.
Continued support while you clean your own plate.
For what it's worth
My up close and personal exposure to tribal Native Americans has felt closer to dealing with Rednecks than Asian Gurus. The rednecks I have known are also uniquely spiritual. It's what makes them such pains in the ass. *Their* high ideals are a tad shy of contemporary pragmatism. *They* are reserved until you push the wrong button, then. . . BOOM! ! ! But there, too, where you have millions of people, you have millions of variations. According to the 2020 census, there are 6.7 million Native Americans in the U.S. That's enough variations to keep me from AssUming too freely.
I think the more you set up boundaries with people and not take on their stuff, the easier it becomes. It's like anything... takes some practice to feel comfortable and get good at it.
Besides his depression is not yours to fix or manage. You can be compassionate but not get sucked in. Sure, your decision affects him but he's responsible for how he copes with things, his feelings, his own well being, his emotions. Just as you're responsible for yours. That's every adult's job, to manage their own selves (their behavior, they're emotional/mental health, their decisions and choices) in a manner that is healthy and productive. Stay the course!
