Free clinic update
So I went to the free clinic on 12 Sept. 2012 hoping to establish primary care and try to get 100,000 things treated (give or take a few). We were much more productive than I anticipated.
2 Oct. I will be seeing the podiatrist to get the Haglund's deformity, heel spurs, bone spurs and plantar faciitis taken care of.
9 Oct. I will be seeing the OB/GYN to get the endometriosis taken care of. They prescribed zomig for the migraines (which I had taken in the past) and flexeril for the fibromyalgia which has gone untreated since diagnosis in October of LAST year. In fact, everything has been untreated as I have no insurance now. To include the ulcerative colitis, the pleurisy & the neurological symptoms that my last primary referred me to a specialist and I lost insurance before I saw him. I hope I can get in to see a rheumatologist too. The next day I saw my GI for the UC. As he has been my specialist since pre-insurance days, I wanted his input to take to the free clinic. He wants to schedule me for another colonoscopy but it's $400 for the doctor's fee and whatever the hospital charges for the procedure I will have to pay out of pocket. He prescribed flagyl (antibiotic) to knock out any c.diff which I wasn't tested for but he suspects it? and prednisone, my mortal enemy. Lialda put me in remission a few years back but I haven't been able to afford it. Doc gave me apriso samples to take 4 daily. At least they are free. The zomig will cost me just under $400 and that's WITH the 60% discount from the free clinic. Now we're all caught up. I'm going to Massachusetts next week to research the local area in hopes of moving there to utilize their heath care and hopefully get proper treatment so my QOL goes up. Afterwards I will be jumping headfirst into the free clinic by giving them my GI's recommendations. Unless someone wants to donate to the "I really want MY specialist to perform the procedure, not someone who knows nothing of my condition" Fund? Any one? Any takers at all? :/
