Freaking RE

Wow. Just wow.
We were hanging out with some friends last night (after they left my husband said they are the only people besides us he likes, goofy man). They learned a few years ago that he doesn't have the vas deferens and so his sperm are basically stuck. They had been pursuing adoption. But last night they said they were starting to think about looking into options for having their own. I think they had realized it wasn't impossible and since she has no issues, may end up being cheaper than adoption.
Anyway, my friend was telling me she had been researching RE's and was having a hard time knowing who to go to. There aren't a lot of options in our area. She mentioned one doctor that she would definitely NOT go to because when she really looked into him, he had a history of complaints and being taken to court for various problems. A bit later she asked where we had gone and I mentioned our RE's name. Her face went slightly white and she said "That's the doctor I was talking about."
I just have no words. What the freaking hell?! The RE we went to, who I thought was a jerk...is not even close to being a quality doctor. I just want to scream. How did I not find this information?! I researched the facility like mad. But I never even thought to look into the individual doctors. I figured if the facility had such great reviews and results and their data looked great...of course they would have great doctors, right? Well, lesson learned.
I had asked him about doing a lap for possible endo. He was adamant that it wasn't necessary. He seemed to know what he was talking about, so I trusted him. Now I'm wondering if I should find another doctor and pursue that further? I've wondered if that could have been a cause of my miscarriage.
But the fact that we got pregnant, on our own before we could move forward with anything, makes me think that maybe I should just give it 6 months. Let my body get back to routine and see if it happens again. But I'm afraid that if this is a problem, even if I do get pregnant again, would I just be doomed to lose it again?
I'm trying to just keep the fear out and focus on the hope and positive thoughts. But this new information just raises a whole bunch of questions.

Wow. What a kick in the gut. I say you should make an appt. with a different RE. See what they say. If at that time you decide to wait it out and see what happens, then that\'s ok. But then you have someone you can trust to throw ideas out to as well. I personally recommend a lap before doing procedures, as I probably could\'ve spent thousands and thousands of bucks and nothing would\'ve worked anyways. It\'s up to you how much the answer is worth. Thinking of you.

Sorry you found this out in hindsight! I always check doctors and practices. I do a license search on all doctors that are in a practice. I search them on our county\'s court docket and I do the same for the facilities group name. I did medical-malpractice litigation for 4 years and learned my lesson to educate yourself on who you are entrusting your medical care. I would look for a new RE and get a second opinion. I have successfully gotten pregnant with endometriosis, but I had surgery back in 2007 before we started trying, so it may have been different otherwise. Good luck!

OMG! That sucks to learn about after already seeking treatment from him but I am so glad that your friend brought this up. Now that you know I would def make an appointment with a new RE and get a second opinion. Especially if you are going to take the next 6 months \"off\". Then whats the harm in making a few appointments and talking to a at least 1 if not 2 more specialists?!?!?
If nothing else, it may just give you peace of mind!

It sucks to hear that about your doctor, but before you worry, remember everyone has a different experience and sometimes people give bad reviews for different reasons. My clinic has a ton of bad reviews, but it also has a ton of good reviews. I think its a good idea to do some research but also trust your gut. In any case, it doesn\'t hurt to get a second opinion. As for the miscarriage, have you looked into being tested for the miscarriage panel, or have you already had that testing? It could be very helpful and also give you reassurance so you know going forward for your next pregnancy.

Thank you all for your support. I think I\'ve decided to give it a few months, then revisit it with my husband. I\'m too emotional to have rational discussions right now.
What is the miscarriage panel testing? I haven\'t heard of that. My Dr didn\'t seem to think any testing was necessary.
