For the love of Mark :)
Adding this to my journal as a reminder to myself that Mark was loved my others as well as family. Thank you to Jackie, who is doing Relay for Life!
Several close people in my life, including my own mother and grandmother have been diagnosed with cancer. I have seen and experienced the hardships that accompany living and supporting a loved one with cancer, and when a loved one loses the tough battle against it. That is why I participate in Relay; I don't want millions of other families to have to suffer because of cancer.Who I'm Participating ForFor my grandmother Frances, who lost her battle with leukemia when I was 10. She was the coolest, hippest, video-game-playing grandma around, and I still miss her dearly.
For my amazing 7th grade science teacher Troy, who lost his battle with adrenal cancer the summer after I was in his class. He was a truly inspirational teacher and family friend.
For my mother Renee, a 8-year breast cancer survivor. She is an amazing and beautiful woman, and I couldn't be happier to call her my mom (and bowling partner).
For a wonderful man Mark, who recently lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the bravest and funniest parent I talked with during league nights, and I feel honored to have known him.

Sounds like you have a wonderful friend, Mary. My prayers for you, Jackie, and all those touched by this terrible thief. Cancer took my brother at 43, then his oldest son, who was really my little brother, since we were only 5 years apart, at 23. Every time we go to a Rush concert, I know he is beside me. We had the same sense of humor, liked the same things. Cancer took them down, but they are always with me. I will do our Relay for life this year as well. Thanks for the reminder to enter.
