Floating Water Pumps - Pumping Water For Fire Brigades

Pumping Water for Fire Brigades
When it comes to supplying water for firefighting operations, a floating pump is the ideal solution. These portable units can be easily transported to an operation site and used to supply water from lakes, ponds or rivers. Alternatively, they can also be anchored in pits and quarries where access is difficult for conventional vertical pumps.

These unique units have a special hydraulic system that allows for the engine to be shut off without disengaging the floater from the pump body, making them easy to handle even when fully submerged in water. This allows operators to make routine maintenance on the unit without having to dismantle the entire pump, saving time and money.

Floating water pumps are often fitted with internal switches that control the pump’s operation based on the level of liquid in the tank. These switches work similar to the switch on a commode: when the water rises the float triggers the pump to turn on, and when the level goes down it shuts off the pump.

Our float mounted pumps come with different types of floats and switches to suit a range of applications. The simplest models use a simple bulb type float that will raise and lower as the water level rises and falls, activating and stopping the pump accordingly. Other models feature tethered floats that will be pre-set to activate the pump at a particular point, and when the predetermined water level is reached the tether will release and start the pump.floating water pump
