FLIP FLOP INSURANCE

In the past 3 days I have had to start completely over in deciding my Medicare Advantage choice so I spent 5 hours on the phone (with my insurance agent- thank God for her) after I got home from work .  This was because I got a letter on Saturday from medicaid to tell me due to my recent change in status I now need to send them recent bank statement (which I just did to get verification in the first place) as well as pay statements . within 10 days. (It was dated the 16th and I only got the damn thing on the 26th)   My lady was ready for me because she knew I'd be spazzing.

You see before this someone from there told them I did qualify but I just needed to send a bank statement for proof to approve.   The policy she found for me was only for people who have Medicare and Medicaid- so now I am not elligible.  So we started all over checking all the drs , meds....  and found one that was not too bad.  Unfortunaltely now I am going to be putting out about $370 a month between part B prem and lower cost of meds.  So Now my  Social Security check will be deducted the $175 plus the added costs from already dwindling bank account. If I would not work at all ALL my medical expenses would be covered. I am thinkg long and hard about why I bother.

As I tried to woof down lunch before I got onto my planned  afternoon of insurance dilemma, I got a phone call from my sister's downstairs neighbor. I knew this would not be good. She wanted to warn me that things have gotten far worse with her. I said I wondered why she hasn't been calling me as much. Sometimes I call to check on her, but other times I worry she will call me constantly the rest of that day. Neighbor said she lives below and works from home so she hears her patio doors at least 15 times a day. She said she is actually roaming the neighborhood sometimes now and has been trying to give ice cream to a couple neighbors (who she doesn't even know) because she said she has no room in her freezer--- but then she asked how to get to her  house.  (This particular guy knew the general area because her neighbor walks her dog so she knows where she belongs. He had seen her a long while back and definitely noticed her decline.)  My nephew did stop and have lunch with her on Monday but the neighbor asked me because she saw someone coming from upstairs. The fact is she is alone, unsafe and being neglected.

The kids and I are on the same page and they have already had it out with BIL twice (which I did not know) I texted him that I felt the same way and it is time to do something before something happens. Convenientl enough, he is avoiding all 3 of us. I had  given his # to woman I was in contact with from A Place For Mom. He said he was going to call this week for someone to come to the house for 3 days but it is better for her to have CARE and not be neglected.    Mike (son ) has also informed me they have caught him in many lies and Frank (BIL) says his son doesn't want to be bothered . I hate this becauseI don't want to assume the worst...  But I am thinking it may be better if SON and DIL have to get POA

I cannot help but worry how long they (HE) will drag feet or how hard this will be. She used to be afraid of going to nursing home, and I know it will be very hard initially for her to have to stay when we go, but in the end, she will fare better with others around.

That insurance stuff is always so confusing to me. I'm fortunate that I have a good market place person I've used for several years.

Hope you all can get on the same page on the insurance and family health care needs.

Thank God, I live in Canada. I do not have to deal with such nonsense. If something is added to the Canada Health plan, it is for everyone. No forms to fill, no fees to pay too. Yes. I had a cardiologist appointment within days. Not one cent paid. I do not know why Americans are so wary of a National Health plan. I love ours. Now we even have a national dental plan. I hope that you get it all sorted out. Hugs.

That's what I pay is $175 out of my monthly ssi check for my medicare advantage plan. I don't qualify to get it for free because I have an ebay selling account which gives me a little gas money. I am selling everything that took me years to accumulate.... I started collecting at 62 since I was unemployed at the time and getting behind on living expenses. I was actually out of work for a long time but there is a bias against hiring older persons in my field.

Life is hard for most people nowadays....hugs

Bob, that bias is here too. All I can think is that we are not going to last or are going to be off sick too much. Hugs
