Flash backs
Every now & then Steve wakes up grumpy. When he does he bangs cupboard doors, his coffee cup and any thing else he touches. Then he stomps the floor so hard that it jars my spine, on his way to his chair.
All of that sends me in to a flash back, panic and anxiety attack. I become insecure and fearful. As a small child age 1-9, these thing were a prelude to pending beating.
Steve has never hurt me and he has the right to be grumpy. I need to find away to prevent the flash backs.
Any suggestions?

I dont think you can prevent the flash backs. They are just a way of your mind telling you of an impending situation... a flight or fight situation. The only thing you can do is to try and tell yourself that these feelings are from the past and that you are not going to be hurt by these anymore. You need not be fearful anymore. They are a thing of the past. Steve doesnt hurt you, no one hurts you anymore. Once you can believe this and realize this, the flash backs will become less and less and then just become a bad memory. That is great advice Joanne, I\'m going to do as you suggest, and I\'m glad it\'s written down so I can go back and remind my self.
