Five or Six Hugs!

I guess my son was having a hard day yesterday; he said that it seemed that everyone wanted something from him--even me! (more on that later) Anyhow, he was in need of much huggage, so I think I got 5 or 6 of them! I'll take it...today I probably won't get any!

Because of power outtages in the state, my daughter's best friend has been staying with us this week (she & her mom live out of town, but her mom works in our school system, so she goes to our schools). Yesterday, the friend kind of got on my son a little for "making them late for school" the day before. My son was pretty much like, "I'm not responsible for getting you to school on time!" Though I did point out to him that he really needed to make an effort to be ready a little earlier so that everyone could be to school on time. He didn't really see where I was coming from, so that's where he & I clashed yesterday. But bottom line is, she's going back home probably tonight.

I finished Chapter 8 on Boundaries & have read Chapter 9 about our relationships with our children: dealing with the dysfunction in healthy ways, letting them share their feelings, etc. One thing I was convicted on was how sometimes I'd drag my H into my arguments with my son & it would get ugly. Shouldn't have done that--what is between me & my son is between me & my son. No matter how frustrated I am. And there are times that I can disagree with my H regarding discipline--it isn't always necessary to have a "united front" (just important that we don't let son "divide & conquer"!). Of course, there's a lot more to it in the chapter, but those were the hot points for me.
