Fissuring
Sometimes the world makes more sense when ^it^ is out of focus. As our little ship of fools attempts to shift gears from our first summer vacation together to our third academic year together, the complex weave of threads in play feel like more than even the most gifted weaver can bring together without missed or broken threads and unexpected knots in the weave. What critical detail did I miss? Was that maskite mumbling something I needed to hear? Have new marshal laws sprung up overnight? Is it too early to buy and stuff the back-to-school backpacks? Asking a 5 year old to leave such a mystery be for 2 solid weeks is a big ask, but it might also make a good lesson in letting those mysteries be.
Early into my psychotherapy, "Fissuring" or inability to focus was treated as lead-in for a psychotic episode. I still believe that is so when the fissuring is allowed to escalate. Over the long and grievous process of inheriting my 3 orphans, I have come to think of the fissuring as part of processing and acceptance. ^It^ is what ^it^ is, whether I understand ^it^ or knot.
